It is walking distance, but not at night. At night spend a dollar on a motorbike, no need to pay 2 dollar. Just have a dollar prepared and at arrival, hand over and walk away, no discussions or arguing will safe a lot of dollars. And during the day, for a ride between street 104 and e. G. Walkabout area, I never pay more than 2000 riels.

I don't post a whole lot, but I figured it's time to give a bit back to this extremely helpful forum. I'm most definitely not a 'Cheap Charlie', but I have an almost pathological need to document where and how I spend my money (although this certainly doesn't result in any savings! I typically round the prices up to the nearest dollar in this report, with the change typically going to the girls.

Arrived from BKK last night. Tourist visa was $30 (not sure why I thought it was supposed to $20, but it was very clearly marked). Bought a $3 Beeline SIM card with 1 GB data and $1 of talk time. Since I'm only staying three nights, this ought to do it. $12 taxi ride to Hotel 108. Room is decent enough. Nice bathroom, great A/C, comfy bed. No view whatsoever, but I guess that also means no noise.

Since I'd been partying pretty hard in BKK, I had very low expectations for last night. I viewed it as more of a recon mission in anticipation of today. Just a quick stroll around to get my bearings. I've been to PP once before, but it was with a GF so it doesn't count.

From all the helpful advice, I decided that I'd check out Cyrcee, then some 104 bars, and then Pontoon. Ventured out at around 22:30 and walked up 130 toward Cyrcee. Stopped in at Fatboy Subs ($5) and then hit Sharky on a whim. $3 rum and Coke and checked the talent. Not a huge selection, but two slim cuties. Being Friday night, I must say I expected the place to be a bit more jumping. However, it was mostly just sleepy old dudes with a scattering of WGs. Moved on to Cyrcee.

As has been reported, the gals here are definitely not shy. As I was asking one girl to give me some Khmer lessons, she told me she was much better at teaching blowjobs. I told her that I really had no intention of learning how to give a BJ, since I am more interested in being on the receiving end of that transaction. There were about 8 girls in the bar at 23:00, and my gal told me it was much better to get there some time before 20:00. We giggled for a bit, bought her a drink, and I settled up ($8).

I've got absolutely no problem with buying girls drinks when they bring something of interest to the table. This could consist of wit, charm, interesting political views, or simply a washboard stomach and a pair of tits. These girls offered none of that. Simply "Hi, what's your name? Oh, that's nice. Buy me a drink. " I left after one ($4).

Moved on to Air Force Bar. Was immediately thunderstruck by the hottest girl of the night, although she was unfortunately already occupied (and totally shitfaced). This place had a better setup going on, with some hotties going crazy on the bar. There wasn't a big hassle for drinks, but they still just sort of hover around and stare at you until you either talk to them or ask them to leave. A gal's got to make a living, I guess. Found one I liked and offered her a drink. Her uglier 'sister' came over and started with the small talk. She was actually sort of funny, so I got her a drink as well. In fact both girls had a great command of English and I spent the next hour or so playing pool, Connect 4, and getting drunk ($23). I asked (more than once) if ALL girls go with customers and I was assured by both sisters that they do.

Hit up a tuk-tuk and got a $2 ride to Pontoon at about 2:30. $8 entry fee including one drink. Placed was packed, with at least ten smoking hot girls gyrating about. Great atmosphere with some folks obviously having ingested something other than liquor. Parked myself at the bar and eventually found myself chatting to a cutie in a red dress. She was pleasant enough, but I could tell she was having trouble keeping up with my drinking pace, so I moved on after getting her number for later. In all, I paid $18 for our drinks (mostly mine).

Walked over to Heart of Darkness. I can confirm that there's a thriving and throbbing gay scene. At least there was last night. Only a few girls there, but a gaggle of lads dancing and making out on the dance floor. Not my scene, but they seemed to be having a blast. Only had one $4 drink and left.

Took a tuk-tuk back to 108 ($3 this time) and hit the sack. Not sure how much I really learned on my recon mission, but I guess I'll rest up and hit the ground running again this evening.

Where did the girls ask for USD $40.00 for ST? What place? When I was in PP 3 years ago, I did come across girls asking from USD $30.00 - 40.00 but you do not have to pay that. I paid between USD $15.00 - 20.00 for ST.

I agree with KR. The Tuk-Tuk driver / friend can reap good results in PP. I have used a Tuk-Tuk driver recommended to me by a foreign friend. On a few occasions I've used the driver to tour me around PP and show me ST establishments and FL locations used by locals. I did save the ST locations on google maps, but to be honest, I would not partake in those places. Small dirty establishments for fast ST at $20-$30 dine-in, no take-out option. Not my style.

The real value of a good Tuk-Tuk driver is his knowledge of FL locations where girls are available in the $10-$20 range. Part-time FLers. For example as mentioned in my earlier post, around what Phnom and the Independence Monument. Simply walk around these locations, the girls will be sitting alone or in pairs. If they are available, they will make eye contact with you. Approach them and start chat. Price is negotiable.

Massage places are also an option with knowledge of a Motordrop driver or Tuk-Tuk driver. I did visit a few of these places and here is the deal. These places are a fishbowl type setup where you pick the girl for the massage. Massage $6 then while in the room during the course of the massage, either the girl or you will discuss the topic of 'extras', like HJ, BJ or FS. Prices for each service rage from $20-$50 depending on the service. Cute girls BTW.

Now back in PP after a few weeks in Saigon. There may have been mention of Viet forum boards used by locals for hookups, however using the forums is a complicated ordeal. In addition to translating the sites from Viet to English, the meetup system requires specific coded text messages and logistical procedures. Plus the price is triple for farangs.

I think people are getting confused because Asian men dress gay; they wear tight fitting clothes. Also, Asian men dance among themselves. Culturally, in many parts of Asia, that's acceptable, where in the US, that's considered gay. You have lots and lots of gay looking men dancing with other gay looking men.

Back in 1992 I paid $60 for a Vietnamese girl in PP. These were the days of the UNTAC, with very few working girls around, and no Khmer girls at all. It was out of one of those high-end hotels on Monivong and the only punters were rich Chinese businessmen. $60 was a fortune then, but that was the going rate, take it or leave it. (All night of course -- there was no short time back then.) So I paid it, had a wonderful time, and have never regretted a penny of it. Plus I like to think I did my little part to get the post-Khmer Rouge mongering scene going again. Once in a while it's good to do something selfless for society.

My point is, it's all relative. Know the market prices (it'd be silly not to), but then pay whatever you want. It's your money.
