With the way the Harpo $ is preforming against the Baht it is getting rougher to get by on a Canadian pension here.

This is another reason why I set a budget for each trip, stick to it (within reason), and then, after each trip, analyze my spending in search areas where I could have spent my funds more wisely. I had an earlier post to that effect where I broke my spending down into four categories: travel, accommodation, the odds and sods of daily living and the money I spent chasing women. Overall, I spent $200 more than the $6,000 I had planned to spend. I spent $100 more on travel than planned, offset by $200 less on each of accommodation and odds and sods. On the chasing of women I had planned to spend $3,000 but ended up spending $3,500. When I put that $3,500 under a microscope, I was surprised to learn that in payments made directly to girls (and I had the pleasure of experiencing 25 different girls on that trip), I spent less than $1,000 including, where applicable, their bar fines. This really surprised me because it meant that I spent $2,500 on costs that were ancillary to my main pursuit.
