What I did before I left was print out some maps. I compiled a mongering map of Havana during my research stage.

This is good. I used to draw the streets and then mark them as I did not know how to create the red dot pointers in the map, I guess something new to learn.

I posted a while back how someone taught me to save maps on the mobile phone. At the time I was using an iPhone. Before the trip, I would goto google maps in the iphone and type in Santa Clara. It will show the Santa Clara map, then expand it in such a way that all streets with names are displayed. I would then type 'ok maps', same like typing Santaclara before, the phone will save the map. During the trip, I can open google maps and can see santa clara map without any data connection. When ever I opened it, a small blue dot will appear at the location where I was standing on the map. Very handy.

I would now learn how put important locations in the map and simply print it. That way I don't even have to carry the phone while walking around. Thanks guys.

I got more stories to come. I am not a great late night person especially when travelling west due to the time difference. I tried a few clubs and took one chica from Rio or Johnnys.

And took two cute ones for Casa De La Musica centro one not Miramir. Salon Rojo would have been a good option but was empty or closed, its trying to get back on its feet after being closed for some time. Meanwhile all the chicas have gone elsewhere, so I was told at the time.

The problem with the clubs most are so far away. I never made it to La Cecilia, you have to deal with taxi drivers who want to charge as much as they can.

The beach for me was not good for pickup. I went there to relax, but if you go on walkabout, again bold and speak some Spanish your score rate will increase.

I would say the epic center for streetwalkers is a few blocks in and around Galiao near Casa De Musica after 5 pm.

I was at Tropicoco 2 weeks ago and it was strictly family.

Its a nice white sandy beach with grassy dunes but there is no place for shade so be prepared if you are fare skinned.

I tried to enter the Tropicoco hotel for a beer but was not allowed in because I was didn't have a room.

When coming off the beach cross the main road which runs parallel to beach and there are a couple of outside cafés with live music and cold beer.

The taxis were charging 10 - 15 cuc for ride from Havana.

I'm being picky, but Castro began cracking down on the girls in 2000, which marked the end of the "Special Period. " The Golden years for mongering in Cuba were the 90's, though it still has merits as a destination. I will grant you, it is more difficult than lots of other places one can monger.

The real "game" is not in the p4 p, it's in venturing out beyond the comforts of the tourist zone and converting "non-pros" into your whatever. Anybody can step into thialand and score, but there is no sport in that is there? I'd steer clear of havana or the other major tourist zones on any cloudy day.

All of us going to Cuba will agree with what Adinga said. I would say the same in other words he wrote what I will also write. As long as it serves as a 'real picture' to new bees it is all good. We had someone going all the way to Cuba and cut short vacation and return. That is sad, and it should not happen again.

Positive experience is what we need to write more about, as it helps someone. I have been trying to find time to write about the nearly two month trip, hope to publish soon.

I understand because I miss the old Sosua (2006-2009). Castro changed Cuba and the Internet exposed Sosua. Maybe if you told us about your positive experiences outside of P4P we could learn more from you.

Thanks for posting the map. I had previously done the google map thing on my computer and it worked fine to find your way around (here in the USA).

I have some relative of mine that live on calle San Rafael and when in Havana I often walk there with the help of a Havana map (hardcopy).

Nonetheless, I've been reading that cell phone use in Cuba is being adopted by lots of people (specially the young) and read recently about the availability of WiFi in different parts of the city / island.

Did you not use your cell phone while there? Was wondering since I was under the impression that one can buy a Sim card (to use with your phone) and fill it with as much time as one wants, a long as the cell phone is compatible with the system Cuba uses (I think it's the 900 band).

Would be interest on your take on this, also anybody that knows about this feel free to post any info regarding cell phone use in Cuba.

One more thing anybody know if it's possible to have this map downloaded unto one's cell phone?

Yes everyone has got a cellphone and you can get a sim for local calling, but there is no data package, no internet. You will see Cubans sat in various areas, next to hotels etc trying to use the internal WiFi.

Connected to the hotel WiFi you can then use google maps. There is an option to download a map to your device, but this is not convenient, as not show the markers. Better to print off some maps with your markers and a handwritten legend on the back.

No substitute for a hard copy in your pocket.

Sites like this are blocked in Cuba, I found, including my own. I recommend ProXPN VPN for getting around this.
