I've been reading this website for over a year. I've traveled to Pattaya once. In all that time, I'm sure this question has never been properly answered, and I'd prefer to get an answer for someone who lives in Pattaya, but anybody who visits frequently should feel free to chime in.

Okay, how do you decline all of the sun glass / hat / ride somewhere with me merchants that harass you 24/7 on the streets?

I wear sunglasses everywhere I go, but my last trip I couldn't because it seemed like they were an open invitation for every sun glasses guy to come up and ruin my day. I would say no forcefully many times and less than two minutes later another one would be approaching me. How can I quickly make it clear I don't want to buy their trash?

Another one is LB's. Do they think it's okay to grab my abs / junk / arms anytime I walk by. Is it because I have a smile on my face from being in Pattaya? Should I try to look angry?

I don't mind saying no once or twice, but saying no 25 times in a row is annoying. It was so bad that I found myself crossing the street repeatedly just to avoid them.

How do you deal with these distractions?

For the record, I think Pattaya is still a great place and is worth visiting. I love Go-Go's and Pattaya has enough to make me think I'm in heaven.

It never really bothers me except when I am eating on Second Road and 10 guys jump off motorcycles and try to sell me a watch. As far as the LB's touching me, does not bother me, just part of being in Pattaya. None of this is going to change so you may as well go with the flow or travel elsewhere.

Thanks for the info Mr. Enternational. You are 50 posts away from reaching 5,000! I couldn't ask for a better expert. I'm also glad that you gave me Thai phrases to say as a way to express my disinterest. I think those will be very helpful when I visit early next year.

I think I might have worded my post wrong. I am overly friendly by nature. I grew up in the South in The USA.

We are naturally talkers and courtesy is a huge thing where I grew up. Unfortunately, smiling and saying no thank you seems to encourage the LB's or merchants. (in my experience).

I haven't been able to adopt a nonchalant bored look that portrays my utter lack of interest. I have no problem with LB's or merchants trying to earn money, and I full understand their hustle. I just feel like I'm almost leading them on by my attitude. I want to find the quickest way to let them down without hurting their feelings. Same goes for the working girls. I have a hard time saying no, even when I'm not interested.

If you start showing outside anger then it could possibly invite trouble. Just act like it is your gay cousin fucking with you. You won't die just because a man touched you. You probably shake hands and shit with your male friends all the time. They are not contagious. They are just people.

I definitely don't want to invite trouble. I trained Muay Thai in Phuket before and I full appreciate Thai's ability to kick butt.

I have no problem with LB's talking or touching me. They are actually kinda funny. The problem is letting them down without feeling like a bad guy. I want a good way to say no without sounding like an A-hole, but at the same time making my intentions clear.

I think saying it in Thai might be the way to go!

Others will come because they are frankly just trying to make a living. After so long it's no big deal and you barely notice them. Just a polite "mai khrap" (no thanks) will do.

Never had a problem with LBs. You are on your own with that one! Nahh. Just tell them you like ladies. Phom shop pu ying (I like ladies). Mai shop pu chay (I do not like men). It is best not to look angry. You forget Thailand is the Land of Smiles. Even when someone is angry you will not know because they will be smiling at you. Try to adopt the same mannerism. When you find the answer, get a patent. I dealt with the same thing in Sosua, minus the LBs.

For the various vendors, I found that a simple shake of the head combined with a look best described as "I just stepped in fresh dog shit", was usually effective. For the girls I just kept moving, never giving them a chance to get a good grip. I only had one try to walk with me and she gave up after half a block.

I think it's one of those things you just have to deal with.

On my last trip to Pattaya, I had to get back to DMK the next day, holding over in Bangkok for one night. The hotel was maybe 10 miles from DMK. Anyway, I took the Bell bus to BKK, then got a taxi from there to go to the hotel, and another taxi the next morning to get to DMK.

This next time, I will also be going from Pattaya to DMK but without the stop over. My plan is to take the Bell bus again from Pattaya to BKK, but then get on the MTS and take it all the way to Phaya Thai, then switch trains and go all the way north to Mo Chit. From there, I will take a taxi to DMK. I hope to bypass a lot of stalled traffic.

I did see Bell has a bus direct to DMK, but they have only two departures, one at 6:30 AM (and the other at 1:30 PM. They say it can take up to 4 hours to get to DMK! Well, for one, I am not getting up in time to make that first departure! Second, the later departure is too late. I think one reason the bus may take so long is the Bangkok traffic. When I first arrived BKK last time and took a taxi to my hotel near Soi Cowboy, we were stuck in traffic and watching the trains go by. I will try to eliminate most of the traffic delay this time.

Does this seem reasonable?

Unless you are on a very tight budget, take the bus to the Airport from Pattaya, then a taxi to DMK, there is expressway routings between the two airports, and those train fares are not cheap. I think there may also be a bus from Pattaya to Mo Chit??

Seems unnecessary to go to a different airport then take 2 trains. That is 2 extra stops that you don't need to make. Why are you so concerned with bypassing traffic? It's not like you are driving. Just bring your music or watch shows on your tablet and relax or sleep. And the places you are bypassing probably won't have any traffic to begin with. Most traffic going there is concentrated around the toll booths. Also there is heavy traffic going into and out of Don Muang. Actually the other day they opened up the military part in order to relieve some of the traffic around the airport. Just keep things simple and take the bus from Pattaya to Mo Chit, leaving BKK and the trains out of it.

Yes; this sounds quite reasonable if you are traveling relatively lightly and do not have a ton of luggage.

If you have a ticket or boarding pass for fly out from DMK, you can take the shuttle bus BKK-DMK for free. That is a direct bus, no stops in between and as I remember well, it departs from door 5 on departures level. Without a ticket they will not allow you on the bus, but arriving at BKK and showing a boarding pass stating BKK arrival same day, tell them you will buy ticket at DMK counter and they accept it.

Bus ride is just one hour, all through the outskirts of Bangkok, no worries about traffic jams.

Wow, all the way to MorChit when you can take a direct BellBus with Van connection in Pattaya? Or take the free shuttle bus from Suvarnabhumi to the close by bus station and catch a government bus from there if you go for the cheapest option.

If your read Islandboy post he is coming into Don Muang the old airport bell don't run there anymore, that is why I told him to go to Mo Chit is closer please RTFF before you commend.

I recently did some research on this. I tried out a regular generic XL condom, an Okamoto. 02 and the Sagami. 01. Condom with a lady at one sitting. (I am not a large guy. Purely average, but I was curious about the XLs.) The XL fit just snugly enough so that it would not come off. I liked the looser feeling, but the sensations of sex with them were not so good. We tried the. 02 next and it was a huge improvement. She was raving about them. Then we tried the. 01. She raved about them even more, and while I could feel a difference, it wasn't a huge difference and I am not sure if they are worth the extra cost. Anyway, she took the package they came in so she could buy her own. I believer the. 01's are around $4 to $5 each, so they are expensive, thus I would label the. 02's the best buy.

One warning though. In Phuket last time, we broke a. 01. I have never had a condom break before. When she put the condom on, she did not leave any gap at the tip. After a while, she started to dry out. We did a position change and I used a little saliva and after a bit it things were really feeling good. I was loving these. 01's! They felt like the real thing and I couldn't hold back and ejaculated. When I pulled out, she looked down there and said "It broke!" yikes. No wonder it was feeling so super good! You have to make sure that they are put on properly (as you point out) which is difficult as they are both kind of snug. Also they dry out as they are polyeurathane and not latex. So make sure you also have some lube handy.

They make a larger size Sagumi. 02 and I haven't' had any problems with breakage with that one. But it sells out pretty quickly at Booths and can be hard to find.
