Totally disagree with this because I live in walking distance to BV for the past 4 years. The girls don't get very drunk because lady drinks are light. They don't have scooters. They all live in the same house provided by the owner / manager of the bar, usually upstairs or in the alley. They don't have boyfriends. They love only money. They don't want to sleep in your hotel or have lunch with you the next day, and would never be caught going to work the next day in the same clothes. In fact, they aren't allowed to sleep anywhere as long as they are employees of the bar unless you pay the BF and still long time means 1 or 2 am until sunrise, like 6 am. You get to pop as much as you want in that time, but as soon as there is daylight they are gone. BVbar girls will not settle for 1 mil. 1. 5 is the going rate now for st. They are not homeless and so desperate to go with you just to sleep in a hotel for a little * change. They all want iphones and ipads and new shoes and letting them sleep in your hotel room plus 500 k isn't going to buy jack shit.

Sure they all work the social sites when they have no customers, but never 1 mil long time nor 500st.

Do Quang Dau is another street intersecting Bui Vien at the West end. These are the 2 main bar streets in the back packers district. Altogether I estimate about 20 bars and cafes in this area, nothing as massive as Pattaya, Sukkhumvit or Patpong.

It's weird how the streets are deserted by 5 AM, but the music is still blaring out of the bars, and girls are still perching on their high chairs trying to entice any dick who walks by.

I was in HCMC last month and the bar scene has really gone downhill since I was last there in May 2013, right before the closing of all the bars near HBT. I went to APO and it is pretty close to what it was a couple years ago. There are a few decent lookers and and quite a few not so decent looking, but the big difference now is that they are asking 3 million instead of 2 million. None of the ones I talked to were worth half of that. Most of the action seems to be in the Pham Ngu Lao area. There are a couple bars on Bui Vien across from Crazy Girl bar (where there is no barfine but girls with average / below average looks) around 57 or 59 and the cross street Do Quang Dau. Despite the slim pickings, I was able to find a couple diamonds in the rough. There is a small bar called Kimis on Bui Vien that has about 6-8 girls working. A few were above average. This is where I found one of the diamonds. She was a solid 8 and had a fun and playful attitude (a rare combination here) and quoted 2 million for all night and 1. 5 for short-time (I was able to talk her down a little from the short time price). Lady drinks are 90 k and they drink them fast. I met her the first night I arrived and went back a few times looking for her but never saw her again. If you go there looking for her, I would advise going early. I wish I took her all night and got her number but I was jet lagged and didn't have a SIM card yet. I met the other (a very cute 20 year-old freelancer) at Go 2 Bar a couple days later who didn't want to be paid. That should have been a warning. She gave me the girlfriend experience, and while it would have been cheaper to just pay for sex, I have no regrets. I took her on a cruise of Ha Long Bay and spent a lot of time (and money) with her throughout the month I was there, and she is still text me and wanting to know when we are getting married!

I never got that far. I would only ask that if I was with a girl I was interested in. That did not seem possible in ANY of these bars. Seriously, D.ones on Bui Vien and Do Quang Do are much cuter and younger than these. I don't see how these places can possibly bounce back again.

In the spot where 49 Bar was before, there is now a new "lady bar" called Lounge The High. Strange name, I know. Inside, the place looks fresh and classier than most of the old HBT bars were, but the girls sure did not. Definitely the older and less attractive type at this place, some faces that seemed familiar from bars from days gone by. Also the young bartender was previously the bartender at 91, and I think at Thien Loc before that. And she's not "available". The place looks very new, and so there's hope yet, if they get some new girls in.

Across the street and down an alley was another brand new bar called "Ly Ly", and it's similar to Lounge the High where it's brand new and with some older veteran girls working there. They told me they would be getting new girls in next week.

I looked in at a few other places, including Thien Loc, 29 Dong Khoi and Smile Bar, and none of them looked like they had any young attractive ones. Sometimes when bars close, girls shift to the new ones and you can see nice ones in some formerly bad bars. Not this time. All bad, so far.
