Thanks for the update, they are actually following through with this initiative. I heard they stopped some nude dancing also at the clubs like Malioboro and V2, I don't know if that's true I have a trip coming up in a month or 2 and I must have awful timing.

What would be awful timing is showing up during Ramadan. It begins the evening of June 5 (I believe) and continues for somewhere around a month.

As to nude dancing, I have read reports, probably on this forum but maybe elsewhere, that it is back. I may find out on my next trip, although I tend not to stick around at these places very late, which is when I understand most of the nude dancing occurs.

Are any of these places Malioboro Alexis Classic Royal Bar etc allow takeout to my hotel? Or must go to clubs for freelancers for that? Is Millies still best for free-lancers?

A few years ago I did take a girl from LA Bar to my hotel; at that time I had to pay them around 800 or 900 K and left with her around 1 am; I probably paid more than necessary (to the bar) but that was the deal then. Usually, I don't see girls leaving with men but I do remember a couple of years ago seeing three or four girls leave together with an equal number of men from the same bar (I noticed because one of the girls is one I had hoped to session with); I guess they were having some sort of party at a hotel.

So, it is not the norm, but probably still possible. I would think it would be prohibitively expensive though at a place like Malioboro or Alexis, but then again that depends on how much money one has to spend on this.

It was just last week LA Guy 5. Thinking back, I think yah you are right the girls at the bar looks like those you could find in Classic. Future trip might be better to just roam in Classic.

If Malioboro has girls for 400 k, that is the best deal in town. That's only about 50 k more than Classic and Classic is nowhere near as nice as Malioboro. I don't care if it's the same girls, give me Malioboro every time if the price is that similar.

Unless "recent" in Roy2920's report means within the last couple of years or so. It used to be Malioboro offered girls for under 400 K in the bar referenced in his report, I. E. , the one across from the main lounge. I heard the girls were basically from the Classic, Travel circuit and were priced accordingly. Some were actually quite pretty, and therefore made it difficult to justify paying the higher prices for the girls in the lounge, which I suspect is why Malioboro stopped this.

Then again, I suppose there is a possibility Malioboro reversed its earlier decision and has reintroduced the "budget-priced" girls in the second bar. That would be great, and if it is true great to know.

New royal bar. In a murcky backwater north of jl. Pangjay in a strip reminiscient of the 90's blora bars. Tepid large bottles of bali hai beer with ice and the challenge of a straw from barmen that for once could cope in a very very busy bar. Genuinely laid back locals of all ages.

My night's highlight was a perplexing indohouse remix of How Deep is your Love which would have left calvin harris smiling in his filled up boots.

Decent squads of girls for hire in back corners low key but convenient. Active seat-hopping girls with freelance manners who pulled the most tricks making good effort over us lazy mongers. For those traditionalists there's also a fishbowl with the usual smorgasbord of girls crammed together in a nonchalant mood.

10 pm Gogos start but because of the low suspended ceiling the girls over 5 ft had to bend down while jiggling their stuff. It's the first gogos I've seen in their real birthday suits. Shoeless. Rather like the upper floor bars in soi cowboy. Didn't see anyone taking up the ladies drink farce though being foreign looking I was picked upon constantly. Great banter in the unisex toilets with the girls cleaning themselves up.

The damage. Rp 330 000 for a room and chosen tryst. Didn't partake, as on a post Alexis afternoon session but promised shower and towels. Old school Mamasan commented that anything was on the cards in the room, and I think if you did your due diligence with the right girl it would be. Ladies drink standard Jakarta 50000 rp. Large bottle of Hai or Guiness 60000 straw not optional. No drugs offered thankfully.

Jakarta's Royal bar rocks. Finally gentlemen after 6 years of trips to Jakarta somewhere to write home about. Neighbouring bars looked just as good following a quick head poke on the way out.

The Pangeran Jayakarta bars (at the Komplek Kota Indah) are often overlooked, partly because they are not so easy to find. http://www.streetdirectory.com/indon...vel_no_no.45/. But they give good value for the money, and the girls tend to be more accommodating than at places like Classic and Travel. The environment may seem a bit downscale, but so long as one visits knowing this they should enjoy themselves. It should be mentioned there is not much English spoken at these places either, although a few mama-sans, not many, can be found who speak it a bit, as well as the occasional girl.

As for the beer, I always ask for cold beer, and that is what I am served (from the refrigerator). But I don't believe I have ordered beer at Royal; just at LA Bar, Sari Ayu, and Astro, the latter located in the street / alley that runs parallel to the street on which Royal, LA Bar, and Sari Ayu are located.

First off great stuff and write ups in this forum fellas. First time heading to Indonesia for work may be during Ramadan in June. I have RTFF and some other sites on the subject but their seems to be conflicting info. Some day everything is shut down but others say the fun is still available. Anybody have some insights on this year or Ramadan 2015?

On my way out of Jakarta I had made a reservation at one of the airport hotels, which gave me the chance to try the airport branch of above mentioned spa. At the Spa reception I tried to avoid the expensive Butterfly package and asked for a normal massage and an English speaking girl.
