Actually, it is relative convenient for travelers to Pudong airport. You can take the maglev train to the terminal, and take a taxi to the Bodi hotel within 30 to 40 minutes, have fun and come back within a few hours. I have done once when I have a about 4 hours between my flight.

The Bodi is not in the middle of nowhere, however compared to Jing'an, it might as well be. It is for sure not in the center of the city. It is definitely not convenient like the city center where you can find just about anything you want (not referring to mongering) within a short walk.

Weird that it's in the middle of nowhere right in the middle of the city. Getting a cab can take 10-15 minutes.

If you walk out the door and turn left, go about 500 meters and go up the stairs to the overpass road and turn left, and then turn left at the first major street, there's a row of stores and restaurants. That's about a 15 minute walk.

Just went to get a massage at my usual place in the alley next to the Shanghai Hilton. I do not read Chinese, but it had a faded sign above the doorway that said Royal Massage. It is just past JB massage.

There might not be that much sauna action near Hilton with the crackdown in JingAn and closing of Kang Ding, but you have pick up bars like Judy and Manhattan close by.

If you want to stick with saunas, the former manager of Kang Ding has a new place near Shanghai Swimming Center. It is a little bite more expensive than Kang Ding. Bodi might not be that bad a hike, You can take Line 2 from JingAn Temple towards Pudong Airport, and get off at Century Park (8 stops) and then take a taxi. But subway will stop running before 11 PM. There are also SiYuan and Sacrosa in the Century Avenue area. Redhouse and Baliya are not that far away from Hilton by taxi. All are within 1000 rmb range.
