My post is highly relevant to Bangkok.

If the thread was "Bangkok Bars" it would be another thing.

No worries anyway. It's like water off a duck's back to me.
Please post the link to one post I made about Songkran other than answering another member's question about what massage shop he should go to on a seven hour lay over during Songkran. All my posts are relevant to mongering topics and not about street food. So who are you talking about? Goats was sticking up for you lol. It was me who was asking why on earth you would post that in the Bangkok reports thread which is reserved for mongering topics. There is a general thread for this useless drivel, a hotel thread for discussing hotels, a photo thread for posting photos, a photo discussion thread for photo comments, and political thread for discussing politics, a Thailand expats forum for members who live in Thailand, and ......... I think you get the point. These categories are there for a reason right? Or was Jackson just dreaming when he made them up. I used to love it when Jackson would interrupt the useless drivel with his message saying that the forum is for discussing mongering in Thailand and let's get back to discussing it. Alas, even he has given up.

Imagine if we just had a thread for each city. The members would have to weed through so much krap, they would never be able to read any reports. Give it a rest man. Anyways, at least you post mongering reports sometimes so I apologize for taking out my frustration on you.

And if I had started my previous post with, "Last night I was chatting up a freelancer standing in front of the Nana Hotel sign when it occurred to me that I still haven't tried the truck in Nana parking lot yet either"?
Mr. Tooms. You are always posting good reports as well, but please realize my points and post your reports in the apppropraite thread.

As for you AskeAske. You get upset in the Philippines photo thread when members don't post photos and try to say it's not an ISG rule to post comments in the photo thread. What's the difference? Give your head a shake man. Think twice the next time you swear at me from behind your keyboard or phone screen. Good luck to you mate!

You can post where ever you like about whatever you want. That's freakin hilarious. Last time I was in Climax I didn't smell any smoke. Lol 😂

I still haven't tried the truck in Nana parking lot yet either. I kept forgetting it was there. The other night I saw they now have a lighted sign on the corner of the building where the pharmacy is, right around the corner from the truck and it can be seen up and down Soi 4. So their business ought to pick up.

LOL. Wouldn't exactly be an appetizing selling point now that I think of it: "Come Try Our Mexican Food! Just Spitting Distance From Soi Nana's Best Stocked Pharmacy!"

I think the reason I haven't tried their food is because they don't sell guacamole. I'm one of those guys who likes to add it to tacos, burritos, quesadillas, almost everything. A couple of times I have asked for it, the lady says no, I register my disappointment, suggest she add it to the menu and move on without buying anything. Apparently my interest in guacamole hasn't inspired her to add it.

Speaking of which, that is one of the things I like about the Sunrise Tacos chain you mentioned. They have very good guacamole and understand the value of it to many with a desire for Mexican food in that they feature a small bowl of it as a 95 baht "Add Guacamole" item on their menu. I prefer Sunrise Tacos' food to La Monita's, which many others prefer. However, the 60 baht rice pudding dessert at La Monita's restaurant location in Mahattun Plaza on the even side of the Ploen Chit bts station is an awesome good dessert for a pittance.

FYI If you want a high quality taco feast: Sunrise Taco at T21 has all-you-can-eat soft tacos Tuesday and Friday 2 pm to 7 pm for 350 baht. Delicious fresh ingredients. Food coma nirvana!

Has anyone tried the taco stand in the car park of the Nana Hotel? I do love tacos but I'm afraid of what would be served here. One time late at night on Soi 8 I went into the restaurant closest to Sukhumvit and ordered chicken fried rice. As that humorous fortune cookie states "That was not chicken".

    Not so grotty

The very best Gai Yang (BBQed chicken) I ever had was a stand on NE corner of Sukhumvit 19 and cross street Suk 21 Soi 1. Would be very sad if that was gone. I used to be prepared to travel more than 1 km to get their chicken, even when not staying at Grand Mercure Hotel. Could get Som Tam salad and sticky rice too, but was not so interested in that.

Perhaps "Grotty" is best applied to stands selling fried bugs? or the Soi 4 hamburger stand whose meat patties don't look exactly like meat. Poor quality equals almost no customers any more, since the stand was taken over by stupid people.

It is definitely a trend. For example, on Soi 19 there were many street food vendors which have been swept away since the end of 2016. This has been the visible trend along Sukhimvit for all forms of street vendors, not just food carts. It is all part of the continuing gentrification which is done under the guise of clearing the walkways which are public from private uses. Even though there has been a big clearance, there are still plenty of open-air places to buy grotty Thai food, squeezed juice, ED drugs, DVDs, etc.

I personally LOVE the clearance of Sukhimvit as I can now walk up to Soi 4 at pace now that 70% of the walkway is not infested with junk stalls. Enjoy Bangkok, AsianRain.
