Mandarin is useful, but not entirely necessary. Red House has contact details for an "English speaking manager" though he uses google translate. They will give you a written list of prices.

I also saw Lao Wais at Ba Li Ya.

If you make it known you can't speak a Chinese they will do there best to accomodate. My mandarin is very limited and I did ok.

Having read a ton of great reports on saunas, I want to give one a try. However, I can't speak Mandarin and from all the reports I've read it seems like it's pretty much necessary or very helpful. Are there saunas that are very foreigner friendly?

Thanks to both NorthSouth and Lev for answering my question. Pretty sad, as the service was great (except for the rub down, which cost extra and had me temporarily worried that I had ended up in a gay bathhouse by mistake. The guy who gave me the rub down never asked me if I wanted it, and I really thought he was going to offer me a happy ending. The really ending proved to be a very beautiful woman, and very happy). But, there is obviously still a pretty good mongering scene in Shanghai.

Do either of you know if the ladies in the lobby of the Shanghai Hotel are still there? They were clearly P4 P, and it all looked very convenient.

If I type #76 Changshou Lu into Google Maps, I get #76 Changshu Lu.

When I typed Jiangning Road Station into Google maps, I found the station, but there was no Changshou Lu anywhere near it. It was a bit frustrating.

Nevertheless, I will find help with the concierge of my hotel.

My real question is what services were provided at this Sauna? Same question for Shaan Xi Bei Lu? Were they FS? Was BBBJ on the menu, etc. ?

Go the subway station: Jiangning Rd. It is one minutes' walk from there. It says spa in the windows. Enter the building from the street – 5 meters inside there is a lift. Go to last floor (4th) and there you are.

Don't feel bad. I have not found 76 Changshou Lu either. And I know the difference between Changshou and Changshu Lu. Fortunately, I am not put off by the "ambiance" of Shaanxi Bei Lu and have had some good times there.

I would appreciate someone who knows 76 Changshou Lu giving us some landmark to assist in finding it.

But there is seemingly no 76 Changshou Rd. It is indicated nowhere and the people around did not know about it either. Could you perhaps elaborate a bit, please?

Afterwards I went to Shaan Xi Bei Lu. That was indeed easy to find but I didn't feel too attracted by the ambience, so I left again.

It most certainly helps if one, that is to say me, knows the difference between Changshou Rd. And Changshu Rd. Yesterday I did not note the difference, today I do.

As to Changshou Rd. # 76, I entirely agree to the previous comments. The first girl that I was introduced to, was seemingly a bit reluctant when facing a Westerner, while the second one, a girl from Chongqing, was anything but shy. What more can one possibly expect for the sum of 288 RMB?

Was in Shanghai in March this year, been meaning to post something for a while but being a lazy git I never got around to it.

I was there on business after a fair in Guangzhou. So had a couple of nights out.

Went to Bar Rouge near the Bund and it was dead. It was a weekday however I was expecting it to be busy but is was really quiet. I though this was one of the main hot spots in town. No working girls at all. I met a few guys from Europe so ended up having a few drinks. We all decided to go to Mint as I have never been there, we walked around looking for it and finally found it, only to be told that there is a private party tonight. Grrrrr. What a crappy night I thought.

We got a cab and headed for Manhattan. It was super busy with many hot chics and some super ugly ones too. Checked out Judy's but compared to Manhattan is was quiet.

Back to Manhattan for lots of drinks and party with my new friends and lots of ladies. Eventually warmed up with a Viet beauty in her late 20's. Lovely girl and decent English too. We drank, danced, laughed. It was amazing.

She wanted 2 k and I said I will give you 3 k if you make me happy. In the bar and in the room she did everything to make me feel like a king. We were at it all night between breaks and snoozes. She left about 2 pm next day.

It sometimes pays to give them a little extra so they are happy and so are you.

Don't get me wrong I don't always overpay however you need to go with your gut.

Next day went to some bars in Xintiandi and met some people again and partied there till about 2 am. Then back to Manhattan for more fun with another beauty. However that experience was a bit hazy as too drunk. Think I crashed out in the room and then boom boom in the morning with a kiss and good bye departing with 1.5 k.

I'm back in September 9th for a week. Looking at having some more fun. I'm going to be staying in Xin Tian Di. Anyone know of any high end MP's near the area. If so please let me know. I've not tried a MP in Shanghai. Tried RTFF but count make out which one is where.

I was in Shanghai last month. After a RTFF session (thanks for yours answers to my numerous questions), I finally decided to explore 2 places:

- 851 shaanxi bei lu: very easy to find. The place is not very clean but still OK. I asked for and 18. She was available. The girl is OK, blond hair (yes), 6/10 body, funny girl. Not really a massage as the girl goes quite quickly to the point. Very nice session indeed. Damage: 280 RMB for 45 mn! I went back the day after. Could have been much further if I had enough money with me. Next time.

- #76 Changshou Rd, 4th floor: also easy to find. Ask for and3. Really a beautiful girl. What a nice session. I will not go into details but believe me, you re going to have a great time! Damage: 250 RMB for 1 hour. Yes!

These 2 places are great for foreigners. I don't speak a word of Chinese but it was not necessary.

I don't have a link, but I am sure that there are many reference on this site. The acronyms that are used can vary from place to place, so there could not be a single link. I know a few of the ones that you list.

DL Dú Lóng: poison dragon (arse rimming)
KB Kǒu Bào: mouth explosion (cum in mouth)
ML make love
WT Wú Tào: no condom
YS Yán Shè: face shoot (cum-on-face)

A member PMed me asking what I meant by being adventurous with MPs. I decided to post my reply on the forum. If you go into an MP in an expat area, such the French Concession, and look at the menu and spot an item that is twice as expensive as the other menu items, you might be pleasantly surprised what happens. I recently had a massage for 248 kuai where HJ was included and a massage for 428 kuai where CIM was included. Though, that said, I also paid for 528 kuai and was asked for another 300 kuai for an ordinary HJ finish. So, it's totally hit or miss. But I like the excitement of the unexpected so it is kind of worth it to get ripped off occasionally.

Not just expat areas. All over China. Just in expat areas you will have to pay more for poorer service.

I can confirm the service at Ba Li Ya. Been there 2 times during my last trip earlier this year. Good service without nuru and never disappointed.

The latest contacts to sauna managers through WeChat are mainly in Hongkou district. It seems that many places moved up there. I'll be back early August to see some new locations. Suggestions are appreciated.
