They'll aim at $100 or more. You should be able to bargain for $80 if you prebook.

Looking to land in STI instead of SDQ now. I'd be landing around 9 pm, so too late for any buses. How much would a taxi be from Santiago airport to Sosua?

A cab takes about 1:30 from Sosua to STI with traffic.

Caribe takes about 2 hrs from Sosua to the Santiago bus station.

A cab from the bus station to STI might take another 30 min if my memory serves me.

For a 3 PM flight, I wouldn't bother leaving the night before.

I agree. The guy has the right attitude. If you go to Sosua looking for confrontation and defects that is what you will find. If you go with an open mind and treat people with respect you can have a really good time.

I hope he follows through with his intention to learn Creole. (Don't waste time with French unless you will use it elsewhere as well). Creole is not hard (it has a small vocabulary and is written exactly as spoken, and just a few phrases are a great ice-breaker with Haitians.

Depending on the hour you arrive I would preferr to go to SD and not Boca Chica. The bus stations are in the heart of SD. Get a hotel on El Conde and chill. There are SWs if you are in the mood. I ususally meet one of my Cupid girls. We go to the movies, malls and casinos in SD. It is a great way to start my trips. The sex with girls set up is always excellent.

The choice of area is always a debate. I agree with Parkinson and Frannie unless you know the capital is hard maneuvering. Go to BC the hotels are cheap and you can get around without a 🚗 and knowing Spanish. The piano bar is all you need for starters. It's easy to locate in a very simple operation for P4 P.

Made it to the last week in September with the last 2 hurricanes gone by. It's still low season. They are beginning to cement the street on the Burbon street restaurant side. Rumba was my favorite bar in all my visits to Sosua. No more Rumba bar. I do not like City Lights or Classico. The renovated Casa Valeria hotel looks fabulous. Went to check out the chicas on the street. At first, it scared the hell out of me because I'm comparing it to previous visits. This trip also seem like the Haitians have outnumber the Dominicans by a large amount. My pick ups was just walking along and standing outside the side bars or restaurants. I let the action come to me and carefully picked out who I wanted to take back to my hotel. On this trip I did not have one Dominican. All Haitians only. Chica's still want me to take them when they know I have no more leech left.

Still love the sun, shade and good fresh food. Wow! No matter how Sosua changes I manage to have a very good time. It's just amazing! I can only get away once a year. Always new faces and the old timers always remember me. Treat people well because they never forget you. Now I think I need to learn a little bit of French or Creole. It's all good!

I might be there at that time. I have stayed there a few times before, but I used to just book them with an email, which is very slow and sometimes no reply. Are you guys just booking them on something like Booking.com? Or supposedly there are some cash and member discounts. How do you guys reserve through them. I see they still have a crappy webpage.

Thanks all for the advice. My faith in this forum is somewhat restored, although it would still be nice to see less bickering and less of "if you don't do it the way I do it you're doing it wrong".

Thanks to the various posts and PM's, I now have a plan I'm comfortable with. Look out for a trip report.
