Update, the following day many more tourists come. The bars that were dead now have people. Today is my 4th day here and it was not till today that it seems like more tourists come. By the way. It seems many of the most beautiful girls. Figured out they don't need to stand around for men I was told they are using line and we chat now. Maybe Pattaya has become more digital.

I just spoke with some tourists that just come from Bangkok. They told me after the kings death it very different there. Many beer bars closed. Plenty of freelancers though.

Curious if anyone here has grabbed a taxi at Bkk and had it take them to Pattaya. If so, what's the going rate?

LOL. I have said it 1 million times. Go upstairs to the 4th floor. Walk across to where the taxis are. Ask them how much to Pattaya. They will say 1500. Say no way. 900. He will start putting your bags in the car.

Tolls are 60, so at the final toll booth when they have to pay just hand them 1000 baht and that is that. Sometimes they may take you to a car lot right outside the airport to dump you off to another driver (which takes all of 2 minutes) but the other day the same guy brought me straight here.

OK I wanted to write a review of the reality of Pattaya right now. A lot has changed. I will just write bullet points and that will give the most honest point off what to expect if you come right now.

Good points.

1. The good news is the weather is perfect and no rain. The evening can even be little colder than I ever remember. But tee shirts are still fine.

2. You have more food options than ever before with so many new restaurants opened that were not there last year.

3. The motels seem to be cleaner with fresher sheets and less mosquitos.

Bad Points.

1. Pattaya looks like a shell of its former self compared to even last year. Many of the beer bars are empty with 4 girls and no customers. The woman there are older and not good looking.

2. Many many beer bars have closed.

3. Where are all the beautiful woman? Man, I have never ever seen it like this. You can still find a good looking woman. But, it takes a lot of walking and walking and work:

4. The beer bar alleys next to Big C. I want to say Soi 6 but don't quote me. I know places visually and forget the exact street names sometimes because of too much travel. It did have 6-10 girls in each beer bar. Very little customers. The girls at least 95% of them were not good looking and look workout and trashy. No newbies like before that I saw. Only hard core pro's covered in tattoos.

5. When less customers Thai logic is to raise prices. Which I always just say no thank you and walk.

6. I used to enjoy looking at the Thai paintings lined up to Mike Shopping center. That alley has been closed down. No more beautiful Thai painting for sale that I could find at least.

7. There are a lot of woman standing for customers next to the beach. But, again mostly hard core pros. Nothing caught me eye.

Is Pattaya a ghost town. No, there are people here. One thing that is different is I don't see as much of guys walking around with there Thai girlfriend or even eating with them. Most guys are eating alone. There are exceptions but not like was even last year or like it was for the past 15 years.

I see a lot of Chinese trying to spend as little money as possible just sight seeing. I see Indians harassing the girls. What I mean but that is 3- 4 guys surrounding one girl. Trying to get her to work for basically pennies. But, they like Chinese are also trying to spend as few cents as possible. Russian guys are here and they actually bring their girlfriends. WTF? The European guys are usually drinking all night in the beer bars. I don't even see that really. Its just different.

In conclusion if you never been to Thailand before or one of those guys that are just happy a girl will look at you. You might be happy and say your having the time you life. But, if you been coming here many years I think that you will be disappointed and in shock and say what happened.

I did not check out Bangkok yet this trip. Will I come to Pattaya again. Yes, a good time can still be had. You just have to do a lot more walking and searching if your standards are high. But, this place is not what it was. I might have to do Angeles City next year instead.

Just read that Pattaya has / will be installing 24 wifi hotspots along Beach Road from Dusit Thani to Bali Hai Pier. I'm assuming most of us get a cheap DTAC data plan once we arrive but just in case.

Mr. T taxi service will do it fro 1200 from Swampy and 1300 from Don Mueang.

1300 is a good price out of DMK but 1200 is high from Suvarnabhumi. Breadman, PM if you want a better rate to / from suvarnabhumi.

About 3 weeks ago I went from Sukhumvit Soi 4 to Beach Road on a Monday early afternoon. 1400 baht in a nice, clean taxi, including tolls. Nothing was prearranged.

When in Pattaya I noticed a storefront that arranged taxi, they had a posted rate to Bangkok of 1200 baht.

Mr. T taxi service will do it fro 1200 from Swampy and 1300 from Don Mueang. Only one time was my driver less than satisfactory. Usually a very good, service oriented experience. Edit: He will pick you up anywhere in Bangkok, price might vary but probably no more than 1300. Often good for him so a driver does not return to Pattaya "empty" after making an airport drop off.

1200-2000 depending on your negotiation skills. Also might be (much) better to pre-book if you want quality over some smelly airport taxi. 1500 should get you good quality. Several companies available with good references. I don't have PM option but I'm sure others can refer you to a good one.

New agogo on walking street beside Simon complex. I didn't go in. The girls in the front look great but I never use that as an indicator on which clubs are good.

Simon complex was packed last night. Hung out with my gem for a bit before I got bored of the lack of DFK and hands on action. Still worth a look at Simon complex for those in town. Tons of girls so I'm sure most can find someone to barfine from there.

A belated report on my 2 night visit a few weeks ago. Taxi from BKK quick and arrived early afternoon. This is my 5th visit but always 2 night short visits. I envy you guys who can spend a week or more here and take it easy at times. My visits are about maximizing the time with the beautiful girls of Thailand. On 2 previous visits I met up with members and we had same room sex with the girls. Not because we wanted to save on the hotel bill but to have fun together. On this trip no member responded so going solo. Staying at the Aya Boutique Hotel. Rooms a bit dim but OK 3 star standard and in a quiet location in a side street and equidistant from LK Metro and Walking Street. I have stayed at the Baraquada McGallery Sofitel 5 star not far away. Great hotel if you don't mind the expense and suites come with in room jacquizi. Both hotels very friendly staff. Will allow 2 girls if you wish and above 18 years. I mention this because I stayed at the Bayview once and got back to be told my girl was under 21 and could not enter. So check your hotel age rules. So when you arrive early in the day what to do. Shower first. Have a plan! And contacts! Always good from a previous visit if you like a girl to keep her contacts to arrange an early meet up. However the girls can be unreliable and might agree then postpone the time because they want to sleep and prefer to meet you in the bar later. Anyway I met a girl in Diablo Agogo in Phuket on a previous visit and kept in contact with her and she had transferred to Pattaya. She is a real GFE type but other guys have spotted that as I know she has been in a trip to Singapore with a guy and just got back from a similar trip to Chiang Mai. Anyway she is free but I postponed her to night 2 as I wanted to see what else was available night 1. So first stop was Hooters. However I always like seeing the eye candy in Baccara, Windmill, Saphire, Skyfall on Walking Street and Touch and Paradise on LK Metro. On this trip I actually was excited to see 2 girls in Paradise who I had bar fined before when they made a real effort in the room and gave me a great time but the girls move on and they were nowhere to be seen. Forgot their names so could not ask. Anyway there are many fish in the Pattaya pussy ocean of dreams.

I think the girls have mostly stayed the same, but the economics, technologies, and venues have changed.

Economics- Thailand has developed dynamically in terms of GDP per capita over this time period and price of all services, including P4 P, have gone up. If anything the price of p4 p has risen at a slower pace than the costs of other goods an services. Though Gogo prices do seem to be going through the roof.

Technology. A lot of girls have taken to Social Media and find it an easier way to find customers than sitting in a beer bar waiting for a customer or working a goo go. Social Media can be a pain in the ass and time consuming. But it can be damned rewarding.

Venues. There are more gogos and discos than before and the girls seem to prefer to work in these over the beer bars. So many of the beer bar complexes are just empty now- of both customers and girls. The larger ones like Drunken Street seem vacuous. I'm not sure how many days these places have left.

If one adjust to these new realities and accepts the higher price point than very pretty GFE girls can still be found in Pattaya. And discos, like Insomnia and Ibar (and now Lucifer!), where you can pick up a very hot girl for 2-3 K for LT GFE are still a a fantastic value.

Just my 2 baht's worth. Stay horny my friends. And enjoy Pattaya to its fullest.

Agree Uncle. China used to be my go to place back in the 90's but it is all but dead now. Things change and we need to adjust our expectations. Pattaya is still great for the hobby and still good value for what you get IMHO. I travel to Phnom Penh a bit but the daytime action and sheer number of options are not there. Other Asian cities are expensive, e.g. Singapore, Tokyo, Jakarta for quality girls.

The world is changing so we should just accept it change with it.
