Once in a while I like to spend a couple of hours in a BDM bar. I will not mention which ones, but I frequent two.

Some from the subcontinent feel they have certain entitlements when outside their country. It was amazing that some / one of the participants of the unrest several years ago had just arrived on a compassionate visa. If they are / were so unhappy, please go back to their home country where they will most likely be treated worse and also have less opportunities.

You should see the workers from the subcontinent in other work sites around the world. For that matter, also the Chinese workers on some of those sites. Exploitation of workers is not racially unique.

We visited all of the usual places of fun, orchard towers, Brix, club famous (which has been mentioned quite a bit of late). Ohh and also spent a night in Batam.

Pretty much all of what has been said of these places is spot on prices, nationality and the like.

Seemed to me mostly young Viet girls at orchard towers, all seemed pretty quiet actually majority of the bars there, still a fun place to visit.

Personally I think don't waste your money and pay over 250 or 300 SGD is more than enough,.

Entry into Brix was 30 SGD from memory with a "complimentary drink" seemed a good range of nationality of ladies there, all tastes catered for, not sure about the prices scary didn't want to ask.

Clark quay is a great place to have a few drinks, bars here not cheap but has a great atmosphere, great place to sit around and watch the passing parade.

Batam was great also, it is a big change from Singapore, cheap and cold beer lots of bars in Nagoya, fantastic food at all hours of the night.

Finally it was the first time I have visited club famous, I didn't even know it existed after I read about on here.

Its a Filipino bar with 6 or 7 girls working, age from late 20,s though to 40 perhaps, the she w.

Seems its a BMD bar similar to those of orchard towers but cheaper, a previous poster mentioned the girls will go home with you after there shift is finished, I was chatting there to a girl whose names escapes me she mentioned she was happy with that arrangement.

So we exchanged mobile numbers but something told me she wouldn't be up for it. And as things would go she didn't call, oh well them the breaks, all up a great trip who's with me next time,.

So Singapore wasn't built by subcontinentals, but rather by Malays and immigrants from south China (particularly Hainan). Indians, Sri Lankans, and Bangladeshi laborers came much later, in an independent Singapore desperate for unskilled labor after they became what they are today. Yes, Indians were in Singapore earlier, but more as merchants and police than laborers. Laborers and "coolies" working the quays were mostly Malay & Chinese.

Regarding how Indian mongers are treated, too often the behavior of their brethren before them, or their own behavior at present, has given some justification to bar owners, OKTs, and girls refusing service. Ive witnessed bad behavior too often, and heard unpleasant tales from girls Ive befriended. Many Indians are gentlemen. Too many are not.

Also, because of economics, many from the subcontinent, even if they are on student visas, resort to scams to stay or support themselves. As for members of the subcontinent, the problem is especially prevalent with the older generation, even after achieving financial success overseas. They often hire their own country men to do the household labor and treat them and others like sub human. Had a friend who is a real cheap charlie though he drives a fancy sports car, owns buildings, is several magnitudes wealthier than even bankers, but is shocked and offended when some bars refuse him entry. I point out that he does not buy drinks while the ang mo will get at least one for himself and probably more. It is not racial, it is economics. Bars need punters to buy drinks. As do many WGs.

As for picking up freebies, SG girls are great and open to a good time. With a little investment in time, you can get freebies. But they are also smart and resourceful so you have to be careful to cover your tracks if they really fall for you. I always make sure that the gals know that I am just looking for a good time. It scares many away but it is better than having one knock on your door. Has happened to friends.

Yes, that's true. But have you been on a construction site in Singapore lately and seen the nationality of the workers? Have you seen the living conditions of the Indian workers who do the toiling for the Chinese Singaporean contractor? Have you noticed the different safety standards on Singaporean construction sites depending on the colour of your skin? Apart from miling around Serangoon on a Sunday, what else are these poor Indian workers meant to do for entertainment? If you are Indian and thinking about Geylang, don't worry. Although you are most likely shut out of the PRC Chinese houses (particularly those $150 Category 'A' houses, the most expensive ones), the Thais and Viets and cheaper PRC houses should be accessible.

When in Rome, well, we just to follow what Romans do. Shrugs.
