Assassination (hit) of a specific target, being the Colombian passenger of the taxi, a member of the demobilized AUC block: Bloque Heroes de Granada de las Autodefensas. The assassinated passenger is a known criminal offender linked to the Pachelly crime group (Pachelly is a sector of Bello), which conducts a good part of its criminal action in the north of Valle de Aburra.

Stray bullet from one of the 4 assassins hit and injured a 3rd guy in the leg, who was an autonomous motorcyclist driving in the area at the time of the hit.

File under: Retaliation/revenge between criminal organizations.

The short answer is yes. The longer answer is, it depends on where in Laureles. There are areas at the fringes of Poblado where you probably don't want to go, especially after dark. The same is true in Laureles, especially in the area between Laureles and El Centro. Fortunately, there's no real reason to go to those areas, except to pass through in a taxi.

    The detailed answer:

I spent 9 months living in Poblado and frequently walked from the south end at La Frontera, to Parque Lleras, or walked back. Several times I made the walk after midnight (waiting until the bars close to try and catch a taxi is a bad idea). At no time did I have any problems.

I've spent the last 2 months living in Laureles. During this time, I've spent a lot of time walking around. I've done a fair amount of walking after dark and haven't had any problems. Maybe it's just me.

If you stay in Laureles, stay in the area between Avenida Bolivariana, Calle 33, Avenida Nutibara and Calle 44, unless you're staying along Carrera 70. Then you can stay north of Calle 44 just stay south of the metro station at Estadio.

Along Carrera 70 are plenty of bars and restaurants, most are inexpensive. Plenty of people out at night, especially Thursday thru Saturday. Huge crowds and serious party atmosphere whenever Atletico Nacional has a home game. Heavy police presence on those nights. There are a few girls who work the street and clubs at night, but they're harder to spot than the girls in Parque Lleras. They keep a much lower profile.

Except for Calle 44 and Calle 33, the side streets within the area defined above are nice, residential streets with plenty of small restaurants and stores scattered around. My street has a security guard who rides through on a bicycle all night long.

Parque Lleras is the upper class party area. Everything is more expensive. It has more food and party options. La Setenta (Carrera 70) is the middle class party area. Beer costs about 1/2 of the Lleras price, same with food. The hotel options in Laureles are more reasonable.

One rarely mentioned advantage of Laureles, no hills. Almost anywhere in Poblado you'll be walking up and down the hills. If you're coming from sea level, are older and not in good physical condition, you're going to end up taking a lot of short taxi rides because of the hills.

If you want more glitz and glamour and want to be around more gringos, spend the money and stay in Poblado near Parque Lleras. If you want the party atmosphere with a decent level of comfort, stay in Laureles and save 20 - 30%. If you want the cheapest of everything, save 50% and stay in El Centro.

    Relacion Seria

She really didn't ask me for anything. All she wanted was a relacion seria conmigo. I did give her the rest of money I had leftover before I left so about 160 K. I have been very successful on that site albeit not as successful on the site in Medellin. I was only able to meet two of the like 10 girls I connected with on the site.

Playing CSI@ISG is fun, as many attempted after your post, but I rather suggest to use Google to find news on local newspapers. These two articles provide some information on this incident.

Also a third person was injured, a guy who was just passing by on his bike and got a random ball in his leg.

The third place I went was a hotel. A 23 curvy shaped Venezuelan. Her pictures were slightly a bit photoshopped but she still had the phat ass I seemed. She has a botched breast surgery though. The things these girls endure for the quest for beauty. Anyway, she had the best pussy since I been here. Nice and tight. Bust two nuts no rush for 100 k. She wouldn't let me take pictures though.

By this time, my latinamericancupid was blowing up my phone. Told her I would send Uber to come pick her up in an hour for dinner. Went home and took a shower. Sent the Uber to pick her up. Had a nice dinner then Netflix and fuck session to put me to bed to wrap up a decent weekend.

    Is really bus is safer?

On news they said passanger was linked to criminal bands, or was maybe a robbery.

Obviously it depends on you. While Laureles is a relatively nice neighborhood, there is a fair amount of street crime. If you're visiting alone, you're likely going to want to walk around the neighborhood you're staying in. Walking alone on La Setenta or la 33 (two party streets in Laureles) after dark is problematic. Whereas walking alone around Poblado at night is generally fine (though certain areas like Patio Bonito and Manila can be a bit dangerous).

IMO for a first visit, Poblado is better.

    A good idea.

In all fairness I think most of you guys should just stay home. To live a life of constant worry is a terrible thing. Yes there is danger in any big city. To me it is a question of risk against reward. Myself I will go to a place that has beautiful willing women who are not indoctrinated by the USA feminists. I have been to Latin America more times than I remember. I have been lost in MDE Centro at 3 AM, and all I got was help to find the strip club I was looking for. Yes I was lucky, but I live life not as a scared rabbit.

Right now I think there is more danger in the so called non third world country's. The real bad guys don't care about Latin America. They have bigger fish to fry.

OK so you are walking in Centro at night. If a guy pulls a gun or knife there is a simple thing to do. Give up the few pesos in your pocket, and go on your way. I hope you have sense enough to not walk the streets with a big roll of cash. So who cares if you lose 50 K or a cheap cell phone?

Yes, but you must keep your wits about you.

Obviously, this dilutes the value of taking a taxi in the first place. Uber, never give them the actual destination address, only close by. Uber drivers have all their pickup address in their phones and can sell these to burglars and other such lowlifes. Never, ever, include your apartment number when dealing with any of these services. The doormen sell out the apt numbers of the gringos as it is.
When you come in from the airport, do you always get dropped off two blocks away from your hotel / apartment?

Do you invite Chicas back to your apartment? You better be careful, they might sell your apartment number to Bandito! Do you buy groceries / beer and bring them back to your apartment? You better be careful, the guy bagging your groceries may sell your whereabouts to burglar!

Go to mileroticos and search for "universitarias".

I suppose all working girls should be adults, and over 18+, to work in a casa, right?
$150 US dollars in Colombia? WTF. That's 3-4 regular sessions, or 8-10 casa sessions.

It is a good area. I prefer Laureles and Envigado to Poblado. There is no "safe enough" areas in Colombia. Laureles appear to be safe, but a Japanese tourist resisted a robbery and was killed there last year. Do not trust the appearance of neighborhood, and always be careful. Overall, I would recommend Laureles.

I see a motorcycle helmet on top of the taxi. It looks like it could be police color. Most riders seem to go with basic black. The blood trail looks like the guy might have skidded off a motorcycle. That concludes this episode of CSI ISG.

Holy crap! That looks like it was his last ride. There are far scarier traffic scenes around the world than Medellin but the city of eternal spring certainly has its moments. Las Palmas Avenue is infamous for street racing. If you want to see accidents, that's the place to go. Stay safe!
