When I tell women that I live near SM Megamall (not really that close, but it's a landmark everyone knows), they ask me "you mean you are here NOW?" and "are you actually in Manila right NOW?

Clearly they are very accustomed to chatting to guys who are "planning to come soon" or "regular visitor and I will be back soon", so when they find a real, live foreigner who is actually in town they virtually wet themselves. When I follow up by asking about their experiences meeting guys it is always stories about BS and guys who say they are coming but never do or who chat for 1 or 2 weeks and then just disappear.

Moral of the story. If you use a chat site, be sure to have it set for active while you are in town. It is the easiest way to fill up your diary at short notice if your boots are actually on the ground.
