I don't quite see eye to eye with some of your points but it may just be me. I will never tip a waitress more than a regular 20 to 50 baht unless she is hot as hell and if she is that hot I'll buy her drinks and have her sit with me rather than tip her. Why? I tend to disagree. Once you have worked out a favourite waitress, she can be very useful (not hot), as a source of information. Has a girl been seen lately?, all the latest gossip. Helping you to get the best seat as soon as it becomes available. So nothing wrong with her hanging around and giving you good service and reward her appropriately. It does not cause me any issues with buying girl drinks sooner, you just say no if not ready to buy a drink. If the waitress pesters you too much, then you have the wrong one. It's not about whether she is skinny or fat, but more about whether she is useful and not bothersome. There are some really excellent waitresses around that are very useful, even if that is not the norm. I only want to tip the really good worthwhile ones.

It is customary to tip the mamasan 100 Baht when paying the barfine, regardless of how unnecessary she is, in Bangkok. For sure if you start buying mamasan drinks she will hanging around and that is not good.

Hello everyone,

I'll be heading back to Bangkok next month and have never tried any of the BJ bars in Bangkok or Pattaya but I intend to on this trip. I have never seen the need to buy mamasan a drink or a tip. I can find my own girls and actually prefer if they don't start bringing girls to me. I am really picky who I buy a lady drink for.

BTW, I'm the same guy who was told to pay 500 THB to enter Crazy House, and I'm 100% sure it was due to having the wrong skin colour. This matches many other identical reports on Google Maps Reviews.

Nope it is not your skin colour. It is preconception about the behaviour of persons from certain cultures, in particular to the likely rate of money spend when inside, among other things. Also arguments about the bill are more common. Especially about not wanting to pay for girl drinks, perhaps. These days customers are required to sign every bill sheet to avoid disputes. Customers do forget their spend, and the bar does make mistakes also on occasion. So best to have evidence. Some guys like to sit on a bottle of water all night (long time) and are not desired customers. So it is all about a perception of which cultures provide worthwhile customers who don't make trouble and are not a big nuisance.

Anyway a recent visit to CH for me, did not last long. The line up at 10PM on Sat was quite weak. No recent new pretty girls. No old girls of interest. As soon as the stupid shows were about to start I quickly left after just 1 soda. This club has declined a lot. Still has a lot of customers, not sure why, but noticeably seats were available. The staff notices which type of customers do that and it's those type of customers who get the bad rep. People can try to call it racism or discrimination for reasons other than monetary, but it is not. It's simply that those type of people are not making them money. If you owned a gogo where every guy in there was milking one drink all night, you would quickly go bankrupt. Who can blame them for not wanting that type of guy as a customer?

Depends on what they are charging for a drink. I rarely go to GoGos because drinks are a ripoff. And no, they used to not be. The agency nonsense has sent things sky high. Now Pattaya is different from BKK; almost every bar has a 100 Baht draft. Some BKK bars are catching on and starting this practice as well. Most businesses here don't get volume. And one of the main reasons is; if they are doing volume, the lazy staff has to work harder.
