I must be missing something somewhere. In Germany I use cash only at the clubs and KFC, which for some reason doesn't accept any of my alternative payment methods. Every now and then I use cash purposefully so I have change when I need to use the WC in a gas station. It may be different for others that aren't banking in the USA.

The last line was supposed to read "are banking in the USA" or "you aren't banking in Europe". I bank, primarily, in Europe and live 90% cashless.

Last August I saw a guy washing his junk in a face basin. Don't want to name a nationality as I'm not 100% certain. I exclaimed aloud in disgust and he looked at me as if he wanted to fight. I was thinking in general, DE is such a cash dependent nation. It is so different from even a relatively close neighbor such as Sweden. I think it is mostly down to historical and cultural reasons. I understand those issues, but still seems a bit strange.

Consider the industry. Electronic cash is more trackable. For various reasons the bears, ladies and clubs don't want accurate tracking of financials.
