I Need real help guys. The apartment section doesn't get any play so I'm posting here. I Lost my job in California due to coronavirus. I want to move to Medellin and get a apartment for 4 to 6 months since this will probably be the only break I get until this virus thing blows over which will be a while. How Far away from Poblado do I have to live to get a cheap apartment but still be near all the action. I always hear you can get a apartment for 200 but I don't know where or how they look if it's true. Can people in the know help me on this one. What do you guys recommend for someone that's going down there for a extended stay and is on a budget.

Most of the action isn't in Poblado. With the metro it really doesn't matter where you stay.

You could possibly find an apartment for as low as 400 k. It will not be in a good neighborhood. It will not have any furniture. It will not have any hot water. You will probably have to pay for the 6 months in advance. I wouldn't recommend it.

Your best bet, if you want the cheapest place to stay is to look into a dorm room in a hostel. There are plenty of hostels in Poblado and Laureles.

The bad news, no home game. The good news, I'm finding rates of $100 per month.

AdventureSeekr and I met up in the morning. He wanted to see Laureles. We walked on Carr. 70 and a few side streets. I commented on the local places I knew. After a good amount of walking I offered to sit down at El Buho Cafe. I tried 2 from photoprepagos, they were by far my worst experiences and they both had a bad odor. These girls are high mileage, not into it, clock watchers and are less concerned about keeping clean, clearly. Do not recommend.

All of the others are from FB and even the worst experience was pretty high quality as a base, but I really am looking for the 10 looks, 10 service, reasonable price. I found 1 that gets all those marks (A), and 2 others that come in very very close (Isabella and Karina).

Today at 7 am, it took 40 minutes to get an agent because of high call volume. The agent said tons of people are canceling and changing flights. I ask for a flight for tomorrow and she tells me there are two window seats available on the itinerary I want, which has two legs. I ask to check biz class because on the way here, it was only a $300 upgrade. She tells me its $1000. I say no thank you, go book the two window seats. They're already gone, 2 minutes later!.

A few hours later, Puerto Rico declares a state of emergency and every single person arriving in Puerto Rico will be tested for coronavirus. Only people are banned, but if there are no people, I doubt the airline will fly. There would have to be enough US residents coming back to somewhat fill the plane. I think that will only affect people stuck in Europe, not in Colombia. In my opinion, new cases of the virus will be slowing in most countries.

I fly on Copa. They go through Panama, so there should always be flights.

Since Colombia and other countries in South America have only a few cases of the virus, I don't think there will be a travel ban from there. My neighbors went to Medellin last Monday and will be returning to the US next Monday. They said they haven't had any travel issues.

You didn't specify where you live, so I am guessing the US. Trump's travel ban does not apply to US citizens and permanent residents. Since Colombia and other countries in South America have only a few cases of the virus, I don't think there will be a travel ban from there. My neighbors went to Medellin last Monday and will be returning to the US next Monday. They said they haven't had any travel issues.
