This would be important news for many of us. I have a trip in two weeks, but I can't risk getting stuck there so it may not happen.

I don't think it's going to happen. There's a video from Duque saying that it would be economic and social suicide. Besides the pandemic seems to be under some semblance of control (or at least it's not running rampage). There's was a little spike in cases a few weeks ago but even that seems to be receding.

Not to say that it won't ever happen, but in two weeks seems unlikely. At least I hope so because I'm in Colombian until then haha.

Although I woke up feeling like crap yesterday, once my medications kicked in I got some energy back and put together a game plan. First order of business was to wake up my two other Musketeers and get a schedule set.

By 2:30 we were all together at Santa Fe mall, drinking some body fuel from Cosecha. We were going to need it because our first event was Kart racing in the bottom level of Santa Fe mall. I believe it's on sublevel 6. There's an Xtreme Karts location down there with fast (about 40 mph), electric carts. Price is 20 k for a 5 minute race. That might seem like a short time until you do it. You're going to work up a sweat and get a workout.

We ended up running 2 races. I'll let Chobomat and Racshack tell you who won. Seriously, for 20 k it's quite an exciting ride. I had to tell Racshack, if he was going to keep tapping my ass like that, he could at least pull my hair.

After a cooldown period and another visit to Cosecha for some juice for me, while the others went to Tostao for coffee, we made our way to Provenza and El Botanico restaurant. El Botanico is a bit pricey. We ended up paying 200 k each, with a small extra tip. 3 entrees, 3 appetizers and 2 signature cocktails each, plus a beer. Everything was excellent, including the service. It's a great place to be able to relax and talk with friends, or to take a date.

The finish to the night I've already posted. Now I'm about ready to board my flight. I'll post some final thoughts later.

I have most of the tenses down, although I occasionally get befuddled, however, the more important part is having the vocabulary to go with it. That's where most of my problem is, not being able to remember the right word.

I have been asking random Colombians, hookers, my trainer, taxi and uber guys what they think the overall case fatality rate is for covid and all of them (maybe 15-20 people, so not a huge sample) say 20-25% they honestly think that for every 4-5 confirmed cases one person dies.

I'm here until it's over and I'm prepared for a lockdown but my thinking is find the place you want to be until April and stay there, especially in the Northern Hemisphere because they aren't giving any notice.

And after reading the posts here, no future plans to go to Gustos. Personal preference, sounds like some guys had great times there and I fault no one for that. I know a few who are at least 5'9", but I'm plenty happy with the 5'0" girls.

But learning Spanish improves access and quality of the encounters as much as any factor I can think of, including money, IMO. My Spanish skills sound about the same as yours. The Spanish I have learned has probably paid more dividends than any other single effort I have made with the chicas. In fact, I dream of the day when I will be truly fluent in Spanish and how that will further enhance my Colombian lifestyle. A milestone for me was when could leave my phone behind and not feel panic inside without access to Google Translate, jaja. Sure, learning Spanish may not be practical for a one time short term visit but even then, if you know ahead of time about your trip here, 20 minutes a day on the free app Duolingo is more than worth it.

I pulled my phone out twice to translate this trip. Once to look up a single word, the other time for a sentence I had right, but the guy couldn't hear me through my mask.
