I have rented cars and driven all over the world: Thailand, France, Brazil, South Africa, etc. Last week I rented one and drove from Barranquilla to Playa Blanca in Cartagena and back the same day. Many guys may be scared shitless and will under no circumstances rent a car while travelling overseas.

Same thing with women. If you are comfortable and are able to pick up non-pros at home then why couldn't you do it overseas?
