There is a lot of ground for you to cover in two weeks if you are location scouting. As a group we will better be able to give you suggestions if we knew more about where you wanted to live. Depending on how many places you wish to look you will not need a base of operations, you need a travel plan of attack.

I have never seen anyone in this forum putting a "chick" of any kind on a pedestal. I most certainly do not. So, you need to support that statement with some concrete examples (which should be available here) for me to accept it.

I have found education formal and education from the street equally useful in different situations. But some things are common sense. I do not need to take a blast of double 00 buckshot to know that shotgun bullets are bad for my health.

My post was really questioning the definition of "smart", as applied to women (or men for that matter). There's formal academic qualifications, and then there's "street smarts". Some OPs seem to place "my doctor chick" or "my lawyer chick" on a pedestal. I have been exposed to both in my professional career, and find the latter often lacking in common sense life skills, and in the ability to be truly happy with life.

As for women in general, I believe men rule the world.

Not sure why we are beating upon the generic "smart" women. For each woman a man decries, there is one if not more, of a man, who beats a woman, does not work or does not pay child support. I do not refer to my home country, the DR is a great example of that; perhaps an additional reason why the Dominicanas think higher of the expat males. So let's us just be thankful that all of us have found one / more of what we like in a woman, DR or wherever.

The funny thing that makes me laugh about the whole "smart girl" thing here in the Dominican Republic is how the blinders are on from those who live in other countries on a full time basis.

You see here in the Dominican Republic even "smart girls" handle their female business. You are going to find the biggest difference in the ages of girls here. Thats why I recommend a man to just keep it simple down there. Its alright if a man wants to find a smart chica but IMHO I wouldn't recommend that to be first priority.
