Is there a downside to getting a cpf?

Those websites are not foreinger friendly. A few weeks ago I was either buying a ticket or checking in for a flight. It kept asking for my CPF (tax ID number). After trying all that I could (making up numbers and shit) I finally just asked my girlfriend for her CPF to plug in and it worked. I had one many moons ago, but for some reason they expire if not used. I have since applied for another on the Receita Federal website but still have not heard anything back. It you are putzing around Brazil for any length of time then you are going to want to have a CPF to make your life much easier.

I was simply replying to someome else and stating that there are 1) lots of cheap flights between SP and RJ over the next 2-3 weeks and that 2) I would prefer to buy two one way tickets (even if it means different airlines) rather than round trip as it gives you more options / flexibility to take the flight that fits your schedule.

I had a similar plan. To book my flight closer to my travel date. Almost got screwed as prices more than doubled the last few days. For some reason, prices came down again today. If $50 is that significant to you, then you obviously should just stay at home. Don't believe that this is even being discussed. No problem with wanting to save money and have recommended discount motel sites and other discount programs but, seriously. You are worried about a few dollars when it comes to getting from one major destination to another.

It really isn't. I could've paid $100 without much burden to my wallet, and that's how much a found RT flight in a cheap / close destination usually is. But I don't like the thought of paying $100 more than I should've. So I would've preferred to just stay in SP if that was the case. The airfares are now back to normal. All is well. I won't tell you how to spend your money.

The price sounds about right to me. IIRC, one hour plus entrada goes for $R600+. Plus 4 beers. They didn't rip you off. For future visits, there is a price menu right on the reception, or at least it used to be. Check it out next time and post here.

Well, due to the pandemic, I have not been to Rio for a while. I have heard from a few Carioca friends that many stores and businesses have closed their doors for good, in various neighborhoods within the city of are. De Jan. Particularly, No Centro. I left NY Thursday afternoon with my updated verifly ap, entered my test results PCR, and other pertinent information, the airline website recognized it and then let me check in, when I got to the airport they wanted to see all the hard copies, I said what's the point of the ap then?
