Think about it, Will someone need to lockdown fir 14 days because they arrived on KLM? Will your hotel booking be invalidated because you didn't book with SHA, and might you then be taken to the same hotel you booked on say Agoda, and have to pay again and maybe 50%? Obviously, the rules are there and and you flaunt them at your own risk. I've calculated that I will save about €700 if I don't fly Thai and use Agoda, and that is potentially a false economy. But when you ask questions like whether you will be allowed to accommodate guests in your room, or will the bars be open, and nobody wants to answer the question, how can you assess that risk? All in all, can you not see the potential for some new rules that have yet to be announced?
Basically, on what we know so far, Thailand is a pig in a poke. If I've got four weeks, I don't want to spend two of them living like an abstemious monk.
Brazil and Colombia were attractive options, but there is now civil unrest in both countries. Notwithstanding the issues over health insurance, it's difficult to see how you can get any cover for either of those when the Irish gov website is saying "don't go". That might change after July 19th, as the gov is hinting that those who have been vaxxed, will have freedom to travel anywhere. I just got my second today.
Right now though, Thailand looks of case "Pleases sign the contract, and we will write the agreement after you've paid your money".

Posts: 260Writing this from my hotel room in Phuket.
Actual process of getting here after the dystopian nightmare of the application, went pretty much without a hitch.
My two biggest hiccups thus far are, in order of increasing severity.
My hotel is no longer girl friendly. They want a 500 baht joiner fee per girl. I've resigned myself to spending an extra couple of hundred quid while I'm here. Contemplating asking for a discount for quantity. Though, as I did book for two, they have said I can book a girl in with me for the two weeks for free. Anybody know any depraved and wanton fully bisexual nymphets who can hold a decent conversation in Phuket?
Biggest problem. On arrival covid test. I can't leave this hotel room before the results come back, or have visitors. I was thinking of sacking it off and sneaking out / sneaking a girl in, but I spotted the Thai rozzers doing a walk around with the manager and it's put the wind up me.
It's one thing being 7000 miles away from all this easily available pussy. It's quite another being 3 miles from it.
Hopefully, the result will come in late tonight or early tomorrow. From what I've seen, the actual boots on the ground implementing the plan have been given a lot of latitude to smooth things over, overlook little irregularities, and put in overtime to get the sandbox off to a good start.

You're worrying about "some form of quarantine which has yet to be announced". In other words, fear of the unknown. My only recommendation is to make decisions based on what you know, not what you don't. I doubt governments will require quarantine for those that are vaccinated. That would be tantamount to acknowledging that vaccines don't work.
Natty went during the first peak of Covid in Brazil. After reading his posts, I booked my trip (trends were going down). But when I landed, trends were going up again and reached the second peak during my stay. I had my 2 shots of Pfizer before taking my trip. I'm sure I was exposed to Covid while I was mongering almost every day I was there. And the vaccine did its job. Travel warning level against Brazil is level 4 (highest). I had no issues coming back.

When I go, I can do four weeks, but who wants to spend half that time in quarantine. More to the point, statistically, the situation in Brazil and Colombia is so bad, that I think in due course, the procedure for "red listing" countries will be more stats based. That being the case, it would not surprise me to read in the near future, that travel restrictions have eased, but if you go to specified countries, you will still need to go into quarantine on return.
Just looking at the current figures, Brazil's infection rate is 4 x that of Ireland and Colombia is at 8 x. The UK considers Thailand "high risk", whereas the Thais consider the UK medium. The UK infection rate is 4 x that of Thailand. Germany wants to discourage travel with the UK in both directions. The UK rate is 35 x that of Germany.
But as far as TH is concerned, the info that is coming out of there is clearly insufficient. What happens if you arrive on a Qatari Airline. What happens if you book your room through Agoda. Can you have overnight guests? From what I've read so far, it seems that though there is no increased risk from the first two if you do not comply, you are likely to be quarantined, and there have been indications that even if you, "bring your own bottle" to the party, you may not be allowed to drink from it if you are not married.
But my reasons for being cautious are simply due to concerns that I am going to end up in some form of quarantine which has yet to be announced. I was in Pattaya when this all kicked off last year, and though I tried to tough it out, I lasted seven days after all the bars closed and that was bad enough.

I think you should do whatever you think is best. I do not know anything about your personal medical history or which vaccine if any you have taken. In addition I am not from Ireland and therefore I am not up to date on the progress of your country's vaccine rollout, but I do understand that as of a month ago Pfizer was in the rollout lead in Ireland followed by the AstraZeneca and in 3rd place the Moderna vaccine.
First and foremost I suggest that everyone consult their own physicians and or at a minimum seek out the raw unbiased medical data before deciding to monger or not in a foreign country.
I received my 1st dose of the Moderna vaccine in early February 2021 and the 2nd dose at the appropriate interval. The data and my doctor said I was good to go so I went. And I can only report on my own experience which may or may not be relevant to fellow BM's.
I travelled to RJ on Easter Weekend at the height of the Brazilian variant surge. RJ was initially in shut down mode. Then I flew to SP for 14 days 10 0 f which were during the Code Red total lockdown in that city. I exchanged bodily fluids with Brazilian hookers every day during this period which included heavy duty DFK sessions and cunnilingus (much of the time) and nothing adverse happened. There are only two conclusions to be drawn from my anecdotal report: either I was extremely lucky, or the Moderna Vaccine REALLY works. I believe it is the latter, but like I said earlier, everyone should do whatever they are most comfortable with, and what they think is best for them.
I had such a goodtime that I am going back to Brazil in October for a 2nd helping. I booked my new flight only 4 days after I had returned to Florida. Ha Ha. Meanwhile I have some hotel reservations in BKK & Pattaya slated for April 2022. I made these reservations to lock in all-time low rates and because canceling these reservations will cost me nothing. But will I actually go to Thailand in April? I do not know. It depends on whether the Thai Government really rolls out the welcome mat with no strings attached and equally important what the state of the BKK and Pattaya nightlife scene is in January. January is my cut off date to decide. So, if the Thai nightlife scene is still languishing, I will go to Brazil a 3rd time or Colombia in April and be more than 100% ok with that.

Had my COE approved this morning by the London Embassy.
Nobody, especially the embassies, seems to know the rules the Sandbox is operating under. Your COE application getting approved comes down to who is approving it and what they've read on Facebook!
This should be. Interesting.
