Arriving this week and well I got to say the planning and researching has been quite exhausting but informative and hopefully worth it once my feet touch ground. I'm in the process of finding places to stay and I wanted to ask, is airbnb the go to for stays? Can you pay the host outside of using the app for a better price or should I just do some leg work down there and ask random buildings if they have any available apartments for rent for the bang for my buck? Biggest issue I have is that 90% of these airbnbs have no sex tourism allowed and I'm wondering how are staff going to differentiate normal tinder girls I invite over from prostitutes?

There's a website where you can compare the cost of living in different cities. I used it quite a bit in the past. Just pick different cities in the 2 countries and compare them with your current city. There are others, but this is the one I used.

While I think that you have a better chancve of negotiating BBBJ than BBFS, both are harder to find in LLeras than say downtown. It picked up during the quarantine lockdown and it has not subsided to pre pandemic levels because there are still quite a few punters who can't or don't choose to travel.
