Bit hard to find, the entrance really is a garage in a sort of industrial area. But the adress is (was) correct.

I thought about that, you can always ask for vegetables instead of the rice or potatoes, but I'm really looking for light / healthy fare type places where you could get chicken / fish / eggs. The food by the kilo places might come the closest. I love Rio but feel like the food options are of not the same quality as the beautiful beaches and women.

If you're looking for cheaper meals, like lunch, kilos will do fine. Some are better than others. I like Aipo e Apim, especially the ones which have a chef at the end that will cook what you want, chicken breasts, fish, etc.

Two specific suggestions.

1. Na Brasa Columbia. The salmon. The Filet de peixe bel munier. Now there is a Copa branch. Generally, Na Brasa Colombia always great food. And top of social ladder.

2. Iced Tea. Diuretic. Lungs 83% H2 O. Megamatte. I drink a ton of tea, along with as much aqua de coco as possible.

Since my summer '21 visit I've started a keto diet (highly recommend, lost 13 lbs so far without feeling hungry) and now that I'm visiting again soon I cannot help but despair about the sorry state of culinary options in Copa / Ipa. My last trip I ate generally awful food: heavy on the rice, fries, pasta and other non-ketogenic items that I no longer eat. Short of buying food and cooking for myself (the horror) does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants that might offer low carb foods at a reasonable price?

Bibi Sucos on Miguel Lemos (Posto 5) is the kind of place I'm talking about, but even they are overpriced and somewhat limited.

The nice thing about Copa / Ipa is even if you do eat terribly, the pedestrian lifestyle helps burn it off.

I almost missed your report among the posts about shaved balls and diets. That was a long list. Probably very few gringos who went to some of the casas on your list, like Black & White in Bon Sucesso and Cine Kratos. It seems there were no session in RB156 or RB185.

I just scrolled through your list but noticed Remulos in Manaus was on your list. Remulos closed in February, before you arrived. Does this mean that Remulos reopened?

As mentioned by others all the por kilo places and the Churrascarias would be good for this, both have buffet style vegetables, shrimp and fish, por kilo has pork, chicken and beef and obviously the churrascarias have all types of meat.

They are also many very good restaurants that serve baked, grilled or steamed fish as well as lobster and other seafood. Many excellent restaurants in Ipanema.

For me, the DR is great for a shorter trip. I've done lots of 3-5 night trips to both S. Domingo and the North coast and had a blast. But if I have at least a week, I'm picking Brasil every time.

I agree. There is a difference between a 3. 5 hour and 10-hour flight (from NYC). I still enjoy Sosua on a 3-5 day visit, although the place has gotten so jaded it's getting harder and harder if you haven't groomed your own harem. For a longer visit, nothing can beat Brazil.

Wouldn't a churrascaria be perfect for Keto? Caveman at its best. A quick search of copa turns up 8-10 of them. I have no idea about quality.

I have the same question. When I can, I do a modified keto diet (meat + veggies) and am wondering if I can do this in carb-heavy Brazil. I've heard that açai has a lot of carbs too.

I went to the bike office / garage and got mine. First time some minor trouble since I just started to try learning porto but as usual things work out in the end, LOL.

After that always go there to load it when arriving, love having a bike always available when in Rio!

I'm returning to the scene in a little bit- wondering if the World Traveler 69 (I think that's his handle?) map has been updated to reflect new establishments? I've got the old one but it's not terribly accurate as per my experience Summer 21:

Many of these places are closed: Cafe Sensoo, Termas Aquarius, Florida After.

As for additions, I do appreciate the addition of the Vagabundo1 scouted Up House in Lapa, and the other two nearby termas.

Where are these, what are they like?

My experience at MV30- which I thought had been re-named like MV Lazer 30 or something like that, was not terribly impressive but it looks like you had some luck there- worth a visit?
