All I would say is head to Tijuana, better mileage for your bucks. Dicking around in USA has its risk, if you plan to settle there then be wary of it. Apart from that since you seem to be studying, it depends on university too, if its a party university like ASU, sdsu or universities in Miami there should be student hangout clubs / pubs you can try there, join some activity clubs, like Latin dance club where you will most likely be paired with girls. If you pigeon hole with fellow desi's you won't gain much on what you are looking for. Shift to shared rooms with locals, if you can make few outgoing friends then rest will fall in place soon.
