Criticism is normal, expected and generally accepted by everyone. Unfortunately, many people don't understand the difference between criticism and complaining needlessly about things which can't be changed, like the weather.

Climate and weather data for almost any place on the planet is readily available and easily accessible. If you're going to be spending a lot of time in one place, you should first figure out if you're compatible with the climate. Why spend your time in a place where you're miserable. Even if you're visiting for a few days, you should find out so you can bring the appropriate clothes.

The other type of complaining which won't be accepted is blame shifting. For example, whining about staying in a cheap place that didn't have air conditioning. If you wanted something but didn't choose a place which met your requirements, complain to the person who booked the room. Likewise, if you couldn't figure out how to find girls, it's not Medellin's fault.

Here are some examples of reasonable criticism:

1. The food is bland. Depending on where you're from this is true.

2. The service in restaurants is terrible. This isn't true, but most North Americans are expecting a different type of service. In most restaurants a waiter will only approach your table to bring a menu or to bring your food. If you want to order, if you want another beer, if you want some salt, or you want your check, you need to flag down your waiter.

3. The girls showed up late Yep. That's part of the culture. Read the forum for ways to overcome this issue.

Here are examples of complaints which won't be accepted:

1. The days are too short. The days are practically the same length year round. Making them longer isn't an option.

2. All the women are fat, and ugly. Finding beautiful women in Medellin is about as easy as finding water in the ocean. Either you have unreasonable expectations, or you're blind.

3. It's too expensive. I can't think of a response to that one.

How come I have never heard of one person using it? Sounds too good to be some sort of "best kept secret". Maybe this comment will bring a few testimonials. Would like to hear some.

Maybe I used the service and didn't know it. Twice I pre-booked the taxi on line at the same time as my hotel reservation for the guy with the little sign and my name on it. One was a white taxi but the other was not. One went smooth, the other did not, took us over thirty minutes to find each other but ended up fine. I can't remember which was which. If some guys try this service and it goes smoothly, let us know.

Thanks for the clarification, but I may dispute that. Possibly, the Colombian chicks I met were not interested in pleasing me that much. I can assure you that my Korean ATF gave me a superior BBBJ, and FS was even better. That is why she is an ATF (all time favorite).

Latinas are more hot blooded and emotional, which is both good and bad, but sexually is good. How much for that in CA? Personal preference almost always rules the day when it comes to mongering.

But the difference is the local geography. Newsflash: You are on a Medellin board. There is and should be a pro-Medellin bias here. Doesn't mean it has to be everyone's first choice.

I always welcome counterpoints, but ask yourself, why does it annoy you if someone feels like a place shouldn't be missed? There are only two possible answers. Their choice does not agree with yours, or you don't believe people should have personal favorites. Both positions are obviously ridiculous and untenable.

I post almost exclusively on the Medellin section here and I don't think it's too far of a stretch for me to occasionally expect to find some like-minded mongers. I can't explain bashers or haters (not saying that's you) who state their viewpoint, but then continue to hang around and post negatively over and over about a place. Why don't they just go to the board for the place they say they like? Of course if a monger is in town visiting Medellin that is a logical reason to be here, regardless of their first choice. Some folks would have the common sense not to go overboard with the bashing in that scenario but they can and they do.

I have been very upfront that Medellin is my Heaven-On-Earth, Shangri-La, Shambala, Utopia, Nirvana, and Garden of Eden. Perhaps that rises to the level of an obsession for me from which I will never back down. I have enough insight to realize that probably does not hold true for even the people who choose Columbia as their favorite place.

For me, the planets all aligned, all the holes in the Swiss cheese lined up, and Medellin has definitely been a intensely positive, unique and personal experience that keeps getting better and better. I have met people who have mongered in more places that me but this is not my first rodeo. I've been in the game long enough to know that I don't have to keep looking any further to try and find a happier place.

So if Colombia is not a premier mongering destination for you, which ones are?...

For me it is SEA, and Thailand in particular, despite the fact that I have had more mongering trips to Colombia than Thailand. That is mostly because Thailand is far away, and one has to cross several time zones. I also speak decent Spanish, and that makes a difference. My ability to speak Thai is nothing to speak off, despite several attempts at learning that language.

I started visiting SEA back in 2003, and Colombia in 2013. For many years now, I have been doing 3 trips per year to Colombia, vs 1, and sometimes 2 trips per year to SEA. I also enjoy visiting Brazil and German FKKs. I speak some Brazilian Portuguese, and English is widely spoken in Germany.

How does wearing regular Clothing In Pool (CIP) settle this argument? Wearing CIP is no fun. All that material sticks to your skin when you get out of the pool.

This argument is never settled. Personal preference rules the day.

Before the Pandemic I considered SE Asia as a premier mongering destination as well, and every year would spend a few months there, but since the Pandemic I think hands down Colombia has been the best.

Hopefully when the Pandemic is really in the rear view mirror and places in Thailand and the Philippines are back up to speed I will be returning.

Deutschland SEA are top shelf premium.

The rest are just cheap (Well) knockoffs LOL at least IMO.
