Has anybody had success using a Wells card to get cash from ATM's?

Worked fine for me in Colombia several years ago. I recall one evening in Medellin, when it didn't work at any ATM, but I later discerned it was a problem with the banking network as I noticed that locals were having problems too. But, I had no problems the next day. I switched to Chase around 3 years ago, and that worked fine in Colombia and Brazil. I have a Schwab card the and its worked fine for me, most of the time, since arrived in South America at the end of June. Haven't used my Chase card here, its only a my backup, because Schwab will refund the transaction fees. Only used a debit card once in Buenos Aires, the day after I arrived and it worked fine, though the transaction fee was upwards of $9 and $40 equals an awkward pile of cash. Of course you would not to want to withdraw money from an ATM in Argentina or use any debit or credit cards, period, under the current crisis. The way to go down there is to wire money to yourself via Western Union or change HARD FOREIGN CURRENCY "on the street". Otherwise banks, ATMs and legitimate currrency exchanges will only give you the official exchange rate, which is HALF the "blue rate". But, that's another story. The thing you need to realize is that ATMs don't always work, especially in South America.

It's not about your card, in my experience, its about the ATM network and which banks accept your card. Sometimes your card will work when the local guy who uses the same ATM before you walks away in frustration, because it won't process the transaction. During my four months in Brazil, I had to walk away from various ATMs empty handed. Other times in banks with several I had to try to use my card in any other several ATMs that had available (note in Brazil its common for bank branches to have multiple ATM lined up in the lobby) until I found one that worked. The only card I had problems with was my BBT card (now known at Truist) and I could never get cash out of any ATM with that, but it worked well for credit transactions at merchants. And note that in Brazil, only Santander and Bradesco are the only banks whose ATMs will give cash to foreign cards. Then there are private ATMs like the 24 Hour ATMs at the Brazilian grocery stores that work fine with foreign card but add a 15% markup on the transactions. I realize that this is a Colombian thread, but my point here is that in a foreign country, not all local banks will necessarily work with foreign debit cards.

IMO, the WF debit card is one of the worst debit card I have ever used. I had way too many bad incidents with that card on my travels. Heck, I could not even use it to pump gas on a rental car, outside LAX. When I called them, they said there was some suspicious activities on my card. What a bunch of BS.

I switched to Schwab debit card and I am so glad I did.

The safest way to meet a Colombian woman in Medellin is to meet a "good girl. " Good girls have things going on in their lives, they study and / or work, come from decent families and have morals. They are not "easy. " They are not "party girls. ".

The best ways to meet a good Colombian woman are in real life. In organic environments such as school, work, through friends, through activities or a hobby. There is no lack of activities or events going on all the time in Medellin. And I mean activities besides going out and partying. There is something for everyone. From bicycling to art events to cooking classes.

With a good woman, you need to take your time, show her you're sincere and treat her with respect. You're unlikely to have sex with her on the first date.

There are basically two types of organized establishments in Colombia where you can purchase sex. Strip clubs and casas. Strip clubs are just like strip clubs in the USA, except they have rooms where you can take any girl you like. Casas are essentially brothels.

Nothing will happen to you in a strip club or a casa. Some of the most well-known strip clubs are La Isla and Fase Dos. As for casas, they are more lowkey but you can ask any taxi driver and he'd be happy to help you out.
