The days are really running into each other. I have to go back into my whatsapp / fb messages to see who I saw and recall the memory. Headed out to El Centro for 1st time with a fellow monger also staying in the Laureles area. What an eye opener when compared to the states. Not just the SW's and casas, but the poverty. There was this dude with no legs literally crawling around El Centro, that shit hurt seeing. Other's included black feet and almost black body, two little girls came up to me and asked for money, oldest one couldn't have been older than 9 and the other 6? Looked at my monger and he just looked down like man shit is rough. I told them lo siento pero no. My monger said they probably marked us as foreigners and their parents sent them. Most every thing you mentioned can be seen in the United States and Europe. Obviously you have never been to certain parts or even have the knowledge of San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Amsterdam, London, Athens, Greece, Frankfurt, Germany and many other Western Cities. ... But tourism overall is nowhere near what it was pre-Covid, it is recovering but not there yet. I'm in a hotel that would have been full pre-covid. And I can see two other larger hotels next door essentially. Occupancy is probably 10%. So the tourism numbers have a ways to go. ...

And as far as mega influencers and all of that. Who knows. If they influence tourism they may become a factor in bringing back tourism. There are a lot of backpackers and younger tourists in general, although again, not back to pre pandemic levels.

I posted that about digital nomads because of a newspaper article I read about how digital nomads have priced out locals in certain big cities in Mexico. They talk about how digital nomads have caused rental prices to skyrocket and that the number of digital nomads has increase dramatically since COVID. It was a very negative article about how digital nomads have caused prices to go up particularly Mexico City.

It may not be the digital nomad Visa that causes changes in Colombia but it may just be the increase in digital nomads. It will be interesting to see what if any changes may occur in Medellin. For long time visitors to Medellin, they have already noticed the large increase in visitors and the negative impact on Medellin.

It does not affect me as much because I like to travel to different countries. I'm currently exploring Medellin but I have visited Thailand and the Philippines much more. Westerners are always complaining about how other types of visitors or ruining the city that they visit a lot. Like people complaining about the Koreans in the city or complaining about the Russians in Pattaya at least in the past. Or complaining about the Japanese or the Chinese or whatever. Things change due to circumstances and I think digital nomads for a recent phenomenon that will also change things in certain cities overseas.

Is it affecting me on this trip? Absolutely not but it is just an abstract concept for now. I have more than enough Facebook girls to entertain me on this trip. If anything, they are a bit too aggressive in trying to get me to see them. There are too many girls I want to see to see girls more than once but I try to be nice about it. I am a newcomer to Medellin so I can't compare it to the way it was a few years ago. All I know is the way it is right now is still very nice for older mongers who want to have a good time with young attractive girls for a reasonable price. That is enough for me and should be enough for most short time visitors. The reason I was thinking about digital nomads Is that in less than a year and a half I will do slow traveling as a retired person and Columbia is a country that I would consider visiting for a few months at a time.

Just wanted to ask what are some potential spots I can pick up a girl at that's relatively safe to go to. Cost inflation and inflation in general is an issue, but I don't think the mongers or digital nomads or even tourism has much or anything to do with that. It is more of the same that has happened and is happening in the rest of the world.

LOL. Like so many guys here, you are literally doing the sour grapes thing. Whatever preconceived notions you have of seeking, they go out the window when you meet the women. Most of the women I put in the hooker or never want to see them again category straight up. But there are a few that are in the possible sugar baby category, and a very few move up into the SB / GF category, and the women are judging me likewise.

I would estimate that maybe 1/2 of the Visas will go to women, and the other 1/2 say to men, some of which are gay. Of those men, a lot of them will be "non-mongers", being younger guys, so I see little impact on mongering prices, however as you mention, as Colombia develops tourism wise, especially Medellin, it will drive prices up for everything which is no surprise. And even with increased pricing that has been going on, the Country is still a bargain. Where can you get gasoline for around $ 2 USD, and get fucked for as low as $ 10 USD short of going to India or somewhere in Africa. I have noticed a logarithmic increase in tourism since the Pandemic in Medellin. Everything changes as your aware, but it's going on all over the World with prices going up everywhere, but Colombia is still at a fraction of pricing compared to other mongering venues. We can all complain about it, but there isn't much we can do about it.

I have been in Medellin for a few days now and it feels about the same. I am staying in Laureles now so far the food has been great. There are definitely a lot of wonderful places to eat in Laureles. Later this week I'm going to move to Poblado for the last part of my trip. This is my fourth trip so I'm starting to get the hang of things. In my previous trips I used Facebook exclusively and this trip is no different. There are more than enough options on Facebook so far things have been going very well for the most part. There is still time for me to be drugged and robbed but so far everything is fine.

LOL, that drugged and rob part, it's cheaper and safer for me to delta vacation Spain, enjoy stay safe LOL.

Some of them are Venezula IT guys, not just the "well paid" US or EU based gringo, this is a myth. The bar to entry is low. This is not an investment visa. Stop worrying about the competition.
