Why do you say leave US? Political climate or economical climate or something else?

Is it just me or do you feel like our votes do not matter anymore? It seems like all the decisions are being made behind the scenes by bureaucrats and we do not know who they are. I was shocked when some Democrats on the political forum here actually said they would find Hiliary Clinton and Joe Biden guilty of the same law Trump has broken if they were indicted. Okay, if what Trump has done is worse than what the others did, then his punishment should be more severe, but if Pence, Hiliary, and Joe Biden broke the law, why did they skate? And who made that call? Will we ever really know?

Covid policies were run by the private company that is the CDC. We did not vote on Covid policies or even have our representatives vote on that. The only bipartisan thing being done now is spending money on wars. How much money do we need to spend on defense really? I don't know what you put the odds at of nuclear war with Russia, but one thing I was thinking about when I was in Colombia was, wouldn't it be nice not to have nuclear missiles aimed at the country you live in?

My grandparents bought a lot on a lake in Michigan in the 1950's for $300. My parents sold it for $500,000 a few years ago. We used to swim, fish, build rafts, and water ski on that lake. I have made fun of the food in Colombia forever to the great offense of my gal but when we went up North of Bogota into the mountains, I had to apologize and eat crow. Beautiful country. So I meet my gal's family, and they are wonderful people. Family grows its own vegetables on a garden on their farm. Cows, horses, sheep, and goats have abundant fresh grass to eat. They also have a few places in the small town they rent out and one they live in. Housing is very affordable, and yes, I was told you can leave your front door unlocked.

I loaded in my gal, her daughter, and two of their cousins into our mini SUV and headed out for a day excursion. Sure, the gals have their phones and tik tok and IG and the like, but they are drawing, playing like I did when I was a kid, working real jobs, smart as whips, and happier and more talented than any other young Americans I have met.

So we go to a dinosaur museum, and it is really nice. Then we head to a chocolate museum. The town square is big, gorgeous, and the sun is setting over the mountains, a stunning view. The museum is a gem of elegance in a city that is quaint, and the chocolate, OMG the chocolate, I do not know if I have had better.

We then have dinner, and I saw a place with rotisserie chicken. Again, it is nothing fancy. I pay like $10 for five people to eat. It is simple. It is just chicken, arepas, and potatoes, but it was so fucking good and again your body is thanking you for eating it.

I look at the people and the women. Obesity is there but it is a fraction of what it is in the USA. The women have one kind of look to them but they were some amazing looking women in these country towns, and everyone was nice. I wonder to myself why the people are so thin and happy. Is it really because the people in the USA are so undisciplined or is it just because we have so much unhealthy and addictive shit put in our food? How happy can you be if you are morbidly overweight or obese?

When I was in Colombia, for sure there were the hooker types out for a buck but in no other country did I meet women who were really interested in me and not money. I even had one woman try to give me the money we agreed on back to me. Why were so many people in this country so much less materialistic than richer ones? And yeah, DF, I get Medellin is as materialistic as anyone in the world, but that is Medellin.

Yeah, the roads sucked. The internet sucked. The latest and greatest tech gizmos were not around, but does that really matter?

I agree that the USA is the best place to make a living, so I am not going to check out of the USA just yet, but something is fucked up when a nation as poor as Colombia seems to have people way more happy and healthy than we do.

More respectful. Charming might be the word? The US feels like one big crass commercial these days in so many ways. Same here. In a decade or two, I will definitely be retiring anywhere else other than the US. Although I am not so much into Europe. Good to visit as a tourist but can't see myself living there. Just visited Lisbon and Madrid. Don't see the hype of these two cities or countries. Panama is still my preferred destination.
