    One quick question:

Are there places that do traditional *vegan* Kenyan food like ugali etc that is cheap and does take away? Like street food etc.

I want to be able to grab cheap dinner and have it at home. A little like Chinese take away in London.

I see grilled corn on the COB everywhere but nothing more elaborated.

So this is how it went. I am meeting this girl at my apartment. I was clear about the casual nature of our encounter. We said we would have some delivery food and chill. Before she arrives, she asks whether her friend can stay for a while, because of problems, locked doors etc. I say okay. So my date arrives and she is a beautiful African girl. Lucky! Her friend joins us after a wihle. We all eat and all is cool. Her friend leaves, but she needs money to pay for transport. Okay, I pay. I don't have small bills but it's okay, she says, just give me 1000. I pay. Now she wants to go to go out to have a drink. Really? Ok, let's go.

We take transport and arrive. Now I'll have to be discreet so I won't go into particulars. It's a place outside, lovely. Suddenly her friend from before and another friend (a real goddess) join us. I am made to pay for drinks. I pay. Everyone is very cool, good vibes. Now they want food: I pay? Yes. But it's okay, still a lot cheaper than a sad 1 h SP in London..
    Ffs. It is not difficult.

Arrange a girl to come to your place. Tell her up front, e. G. "I want one hour fuck," Agree price, 2 or 3 k.

End of move on and repeat with the next one.

It's getting a little late but the vibes are good and her friend is lovely (the other friend left). Now she wants to smoke something il*al. Look, police is walking there. But it's okay because we go in the back. Okay then, I pay? I pay. Brother, I am paying a lot of money. We smoke and I get a little effed. It's late, I am tired. A hint of drama, am I seeing other girls, bla bla. But nothing bad happens.

Her friend has to sleep at my place because of some problems. That's fine, she can stay. We go back, have another smoke which she has as I refuse it, I have already too much paranoia rolling around in my European brain. Ok shall we shag now? Yes, but need money. Okay, I pay again.

The sex was really good, it was an interesting night but I shall NOT repeat it. I paid way over 10 k, tbh I lost track of how much money went into this.

I have another one lined up for tomorrow, will keep you posted.

You spend whole day or afternoon waiting for your short time girl.

So if you agree to meet some girl, meet her in some place where there are some other girls available, if she will not come. Like Big Tree. Eagle Nest is still good, there are girls there also.
As the Mandalorian would say: This is the way.

Start to talk with them, they will tell you all you know about Mwtapa (unless they have just arrived also). There is small supermarket in 50 meter from there, also shops for clothes. Bigger supermarkets, those white guys can tell you where to find. Hmm. It is Monday. Maybe it is good idea to go to Eagle Nest even tonight, there used to be karaoke night on Mondays, only place where there are people on Monday night. Later many of them in Casourina. I am not in Mombasa now.

Where can I find fresh produce? I am looking for a place that has a great variety of fruits.
You can see fruit sellers on corners or moving around with fresh pineapple, mango, passion fruit etc. Just keep an eye out for them. There is a nice little fruit juice shack on tucked into the corner of the block opposite Kendas. Nice place.

Mtwapa is a little intimidating. No white faces. I wanted to buy some food but didn't know where to go.

Also wanted to buy a pair of trousers but same thing.

    I am a 20 m walk NE from Posta.

Is 300 kes a good price to go from Mtwapa to Big Tree?

How about 300 kes back from Big Tree at night?

I am trying Tinder now, looks more promising than Tagged. I am just honest and cut the BS, but I don't mention money, I just say that I am not interested in long term. Should money be discussed in advance?

Thanks for all the responses, I have quite a few places to explore now. Some of these places seem heavy on meat for a vegetarian / vegan.

300 ks sounds about right to me.

Always agree the price up front, saves any problems afterwards.

I consider it far too expensive, for its mediocre quality. Better alternative: Char Choma (especially in the evening, for excellent BBQ! Do not miss it).

Or Cafesserie in Bamburi. Has good bakery.

When looking for freelancers: Tuesday and Friday evening live music in Safari Inn.

Will be in Bamburi again on 03-Nov. Send me a PM, in case of interest having a beer together.

Easiest is to go to Eagle's Nest in the Postal road, that is decent enough, and open in daytime also. I have drunk there tea often, other people drink beer. Common place for couples to meet.

To take her to some nicer place, Moorings was mentioned already. Most romantic place in my opinion is Marina Resort, that is very peaceful place, and views to creek are nice, it is high. I wonder what is name in the outside door. Not many people go there or even know about it? It is hotel but outside cafe / restaurant is open to everybody. Not expensive.

Other place nearby is La Marina, then you are on the sea level in creek. That is food restaurant. This beach road to both places, I think it is called Marina road? There are security stops in road but they let every musungu pass.

But Eagle Nest should be good and much easier than those Marina places, for them you need to do some walk or motobike. Everybody knows Eagle's Nest.

There are not many "decent places" in Mtwapa to drink tea.

But you could go in the morning from 6 to 1 to the Bakery.

Otherwise you could go to Moorings, the floating restaurant or to the Marina Seaside restaurant along the Creek.

Or you can take a taxi to Yul's or the Whitesands Hotel on Bamburi beachside.

There is a coffee shop on the main road try that? Also that small food mall with the bakery and chicken place.
