There have been a lot of complaints about password bros and the large number of foreign tourists but you don't have to hang out in Poblado. There are other safe neighborhoods that have good bars and restaurants. Now you're not going to get working girls hanging out on the streets or at the bars But you can go to the casas or go online for sexual pleasure. I've mentioned that I've been seeing Facebook girls exclusively since coming here and I have been pleased with the experience. Attractive Facebook girls coming to my hotel and entertaining me has worked out for me. You just need to do your due diligence in finding the type of girl that you are interested in and to have an agreement on the type of activities that you want and the price that you and her can agree upon. I usually do this in the weeks before my trip and not during a trip.

Anyway, the trip is what you make it and you can still have a good time in Medellin.

I bet if she brings up legalities or decides to jet there'd be a hell to pay for people back home and she'd be dissected alive if she's ever caught + the person who helped her won't survive either. Be careful with your 'monger save a ho' desires here if you're thinking (or rather feeling) in that direction. These are very bad and very resolute people you'd be dealing with with zero scruples. Even if you somehow manage to succeed initially which is highly unlikely and would require some seriously detailed advance planning you'd be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life.

Good advice Sir. 'Stealing' from crime organization isn't the way to go.

She's stuck. Maybe unless she'll pay some hefty penalty for cancelling the contract, buying herself out essentially, but even then, there are no guarantees, who's she going to complain to if they just take her money and keep her working.

The question that occurs to me is whether there has also been an increase in crimes against Colombians. The annual statistics published in the local media suggests that there has been an increase. The conservative media here mirrors the model of Rupert Murdoch's USA product, fear hype and a foreign immigrant angle on any crime story.

Of course they don't divide the numbers up by mongers versus non-mongers but it does seem likely that the number of foreign men seeking sex in Medellin has substantially increased in the past 5 years. That's the point of all these posts on this website complaining about the large numbers of foreign men coming to Medellin and ruining Medellin. I think it's likely that the increase in crimes against gringos is partly in due to the large increase of gringos visiting Medellin but I could be wrong.

My experience with Avianca last month was they paged any passenger who did not check in with an agent before going through TSA. They asked for passport, check mig, and return ticket or cedula. YMMV but why chance it?

I wasn't saying to chance it. I always do checkmig. I was just asking if they ask for it if you bypass the customer counter and go straight to the gate. O my last cpl entries wingo hasn't been asking for it anymore but I still have it just in case.

I mean Medellin hasn't been a secret for a long time. The pandemic created a lot of pent-up travel demand. It will even out.

As far as crime. Well duh, you're in a country where, if uneducated, you're lucky to make $10 a day and even if educated, $20 a day is doing pretty good. I don't pay attention to a lot of the crime because frankly it can happen anywhere but obviously in a place like Colombia your awareness needs to be elevated.

Learn Spanish, take an interest in your surroundings, blend in, and don't walk around "solo" places after dark and you'll eliminate 95% of the risk. If you just come down with your "bros" for the weekend and all you do is talk to each other in English everywhere you go with your watches and phones out then of course you're going to attract negative attentioy.

I will say that although I think things haven't really changed that much, every time I go down now all I see are groups of "bros". It's not like they weren't there before, but they seem more comfortable with themselves so more and more are going at a time now. Also the number of fake ads and flaky women is ridiculously higher in Medellin than my experiences in Cartagena. Women are also less responsive on Tinder than they used to be. You'll get matches, but they won't respond. Negotiating is a necessity now too whereas it was a lot easier before. I don't think things were necessarily better in the pandemic or before but like I said I think a combination of an influx of the "bros", pent up travel demand, and global inflation is making it harder.

If 50 guys drugged and robbed and the number of foreign mongering visitors is 10,000 per month out of the 500,000 total visitors per month, then you are diluting the numbers by including tourist that are not bringing a strange chick to their room or not outside walking alone and therefore not being drugged and robbed.

What if you had a digital boarding pass on your phone and we're only traveling with a carry-on, then you wouldn't even go to the Avianca customer counter you would go straight thru TSA and onto your gate, then would they ask for your checkmig in that scenario or not?

I have done this exact method twice in the last few months and they ask at the gate. Sometime before boarding they will call out your name or just walk up to you if you are an obvious gringo like me and ask. This was Copa airlines.

Before the pandemic a guy was found dead in a short time plant in Raudal. I can't remember whether or not he was a foreigner. He was seen entering the place on CCTV with a a guy who left alone a short time later.

Either that or you can ask the girl to send you a photo of her cedula before meeting up or upon meeting up in a public place. You just got to tell her upfront that "it's for your security and if something bad happens to you while you're with her, she will be held responsible" or something along those lines. Also, letting her know that your hotel has her identification gives you leverage in worst case scenario. Now, if you mention that to her upfront and she refuses to give you her identification for whatever BS excuse that she will make up then it only means she is plotting something bad to you and you just moved on to the next one.

If she's just someone trying to make extra cash, giving her identification shouldn't be a problem right away. You can never let your guard down in Medellin especially nowadays and always got to think with the big head.

Other day I've met a sweet and beautiful 19 yo Vennie with great rack in Centro after 9 pm. Never saw her before in there. She tells me 50 mil for 1 h. BBBJ included? Yes. (Are you new)?

I ask where does she go usually and she says she only knows this hotel, which happens to be my preferred place anyway, so we wait a bit..

I experienced similar situation with Brazilian woman in Boston US 15 or so years ago. She was working out of the apartment with her female overseer in another room. She was brought over to the States and owed some people some money, the people that you can't say 'no' to, and she said was basically working out her debts. Similar yearning reaction when I mentioned BF. Totally slaveowner & slave situation. I met someone else few years ago in the hotel who from what she told me appeared in the similar situation.

As for this girl's contract in Venezuela I bet her family sold her. Goddamn, this one came up in my regular news feed. I'm really starting to think going back to Colombia would be an irrational roll of the dice for me, even though nothing unsafe happened. At least not yet. Going there instead of a safer Latin American country is probably thinking with the little head, as well as penny-wise but pound-foolish. Can find Colombians in other LA countries, just a bit more expensive.

Avianca does check it as part of issuing their paper ticket, but they may be more trusting allowing verbal confirmation. But as of my last flight with them out of Orlando they were asking / inquiring.

If this guy would have rented a hotel where the girls has to giver her ID, he probably would be alive. I said in many forums, air bnb and apartments increase your risk. A hotel has security in the front. Unless you sneak a girl in, you shouldn't have problems. Also how did they get this guys family members contact info. He gave her his real number? Google voice people.
