Thanks. Seeing your and other responses I realized that despite a lot of walking, I did not come across any large markets when I visited Bogota. Closest thing was a chain convenience store on the corner. Maybe I simply didn't look hard enough or it could have been the location I happened to stay in.
The point, I think, was to buy some small item to get some change for your large bills. A convenience store would be a good place. Anyway, there were lots of suggestions and any of them could work. And if you want to find the nearest grocery store or whatever just search on google maps for closest store for food, or comida, or whatever and it will bring up something in whatever location you are.

Exito, Jumbo, Makro, Carulla, D1, Ara, Isimo, Euro, Dollar City, and pharmacies such as La Rebaja etc. All take cards (unless if their system is down which can happen more often than you would think). And you can always buy something small with a 50 k or 100 k note in these stores and get Change back. If someone doesn't have change it is quite common for them to take your bill and go to another business or person outside / nextdoor to make change; they will not run off with your money just wait patiently and they will bring you your change.
Once you go into the barrios those type of storesand pharmacies are nowhere to be found and they are replaced by smaller barrio tiendas and pharmacies which are typically cash only. And any street vendors and many restaurants are cash only even in the area where those bigger chain grocery stores are located.
If course if yiu are using apps (for the most part) they take cards. I think maybe Indriver doesn't take cards and some apps will not work with foreign cards such as trying to put a recarga on your Tigo or Claro phone thru the Tigo or Claro apps, however there is a workaround for this using a third party app called Ding. Using the app Rappi you can order food, groceries, and even pharmaceuticals and have them delivered to you and charged to your card. I don't use Uber, I use Indriver, sometimes Didi, and Picap and I always use cash but I guess you can use cards with Uber. I prefer to use the bus and the metro tho and for this you need cash. Even at terminal de norte some of the bus companies only take cash, I think when I went to Guatape it might have been cash only for that bus.
It's generally better to just have cash, anyone who has spent any time in Latin America would already know that.
The problem I have with these videos, especially since I've never visited, is that I have no idea who is and who is not a working girl. Sure there's a lot of fat ass chicas and attractive ones being shown here but it's all useless if it's just random videos of women on the street. I guess you never know until you try, but without knowing who you can and can't pick up, what's the point?
Are you meaning to tell me that the majority of the women in this video are approachable for an appointment?
You Thought They Weren't? See'Mon. Man-- that's hilarious-.
Get cash from the ATM. Go to Exito or Carulla, or any large market. Buy a bottle of water, pack of gum or other cheap item, and pay with a 50 k bill. If you use the metro, put 10 k on your Civica card and pay with a 50 k bill. Lots of places you can do that type of thing.

They're all a fucking ripoff too. Plaza Botero / La Veracruz / CRA 53 is a much better value and half the time (possibly more than half) it's the same chicas working both venues.
It's like Mr. E said recently, you can buy a Big Mac at the regular McDonald's or you can buy a Big Mac at a McDonald's inside an airport. Same Big Mac but two different prices.
I don't think they use vos in Latin America. I had a mexican girl I was seeing in Tijuana ask me what polvo was and I told her. It was in a song that we were watching the video for on TV.
I was walking past the UVA park this morning and I happened to see this sign that reminded me of your post LOL. See the attached photo.

I've been seeing reports that the Schwab card may not refund Davivienda's new fee because the fee is not disclosed. As you said, 15,000 a few times during a vacation visit is not going to ruin anyone financially. It does start to add if you are here all the time and you need a lot of cash on hand. I don't personally use cash for much of anything except girls. I very rarely do barrio plate of the day places so I can go a couple of months or more between ATM withdrawals. Just talking about this brings back my anger about not loading up on more pesos when it was at 5,000 just after Petro's election. I thought 20 million was enough but I was wrong LOL!
Yeah for Uber, and restaurants in moderate / wealthy areas should take a card. As many others say, get a Schwab card. Covers ATM fees, I feel like Davienda atms for max pulls were like $10-$15, not a huge deal to wait until end of month for Schwab to refund you. I'll do 2 max pulls. 1 stack goes to girl stuff. Big bills for simplicity, I'll negotiate for more time or extras if I'm short by a denomination. The next stack as someone else said make convenience store runs. Plenty small items, mouthwash, hard seltzer, bottled water, single use body cleaning products. All things I need. Worst case hang onto left over for next trip, or deposit foreign cash at my bank if it's like $300+ I don't want sitting for months.
The whole world is clickbait for some of the youtubers. It is indeed a hustle. They will say anything on those videos to get more views. They don't worry about reality or anyone's reputation getting in the way of their earnings potential. My advice is, whatever you are doing or not doing, avoid them whenever you see them.
Yeah some of these Youtubers can be dicks about it. In Amsterdam you're explicitly not supposed to film, a few will do half ass face blurring where several frames are completely exposed, while getting a mongers face going / leaving a window. Not illegal, but very explicit. Same for Parque Lleras, plenty of normal tourists there so not as explicit but often will film cash or Translate exchanges. When called out about it there has to be enough support in comments, and even then they'll just repost when heat dies down.
I appreciate the value, but it is parasitic because they'll shit on the hobby and say it's purely tourism channel. But then not offer tourism advice, strategy with the girls, and sell uncut vids for higher price. It's a hustle.

Flag those vids to Youtube! If enough of us do so Youtube may remove them or at the very least restrict them to +18.
Ah ok, thanks, that's one more reason to stay the hell out of Parque Lleras. Imagine being surprised by questions about why you were in Parque Lleras doing whatever the youtuber says you were doing there.
Wish I had known about that years ago. Instead of going places, I could just look at YouTube videos. Add in Pornhub and you can see what Parque Lleras looks like at night and see what it looks like to fuck a girl someone else picked up there. Add in a video of bandeja paisa and it's just like being there.
Is there any good solution for getting change though? It is so frustrating to get mostly all big bills from the ATM and then when I try to pay for something I either get an exasperated look from the employee and they have to go see someone else in order to get change, or worse, they say they don't have that much change (nothing crazy, just a 50 k or 100 k bill).
I always end up with too much change.

There are supposedly three branches in Medellin. In el Centro at Cra 49 #50 - 23, in Poblado at Cra 43 A #16 Sur - 63, and in Laureles at Circular 73 be #76 - 16. I have used the one in Laureles years ago, but a couple of years ago I tried it two or three times and it would not accept a Schwab card.
There is also Scotiobank Colpatria with branches in Medellin that allow a higher withdrawal amount, I think 900 mil. I don't know how much, but they do charge an ATM fee.
