- best place to change money?
- can I purchase calling cards or rent a mobile phone?
- Can one purchase a daily Metro Ticket or are weekly
tickets for the Metro also available as in Prague?
- are the Metro Station signs in Moscow only in Russian or
are they also in English?

I made several searches in the forum but was not able to come up with this general info

Night Flight is on Tverskaya ul. If you have the Red Square on your back it's approx. 800 meters from the Red Square, at the left, the same side of the National, the New Ritz Carlton and the central Post Office.

The adress is Tverskaya 17.

Perhaps one can answer me this: how valuable is a stolen American passport (with a tourist visa) to a Russian thief? I have a girl trying to get me to send her two 3x4 cm personal photos and a copy of my passport. She knows I already have a tourist visa, but she wants me to go to her in Kazan. She says it's necessary. I have my strong doubts. I've always heard to report immediately to your embassy if your passport is stolen? What can a thief in Russia do with it? Any experiences to relate? Thanks.

The last question is relatively easy: they can sell it. Even Belarusian passports went for $50-$100 in Minsk back in 2000 when I was there, and I guess they can make more money on the American ones. Passports are then used to open fake companies, do all kinds of illegal transactions, possibly to commit identity theft ... there many options.

However, the girl's request is probably genuine. First of all, she is only asking you for a copy, presumably of the photo/data pages, which may be valuable to some extent but much less so. Secondly, there are, to my knowledge, three cities in Russia that now require special permission for foreigners (note: this information is up to date and different from the olden days when you had to have each city listed on your visa), at least if they come by plane. Kazan' is one of them (if I remember correctly, Nizhnyi Novgorod is another). Don't ask me why: the ways of Russian bureaucracy are mysterious.

NF prices: They start at $500 or 500 euros if you are new there. They will go down to 400 within 3 or 4 minutes, and to 300 shortly thereafter in most cases unless there are too many males in the club.

In February, the male-to-female ratio was 1-10 in NF. A friend of mine negotiated down to $100/night (he's good looking), and I got $100/hr. It all depends on your negotiating skills and the # of guys in NF. It's a must see place if you're in Moscow for the first time, but I wouldn't go twice there.

Do not take the taxis outside NF -- they will be a minimum of 500 rubles -- walk about 50 yards towards the Kremlin and you can flag a cab down for 200.

Greetings all. I arrive in Moscow from the US for one year at the end of August for work. If any of you experienced Moscow mongers have the inclination, I'the love some advice on getting started mongering in the city. I know I'll hit the club scene (Nightflight, etc.), but should I focus more on freebies, etc? My company sets me up in an apartment in the city centre, so I'll have great location. Also, anyone up for showing me the ropes via the club scene? Drinks are on me.
