The Sosuans are not stupid. The government and police are smart enough to have their own intelligence to know what they are doing. Grant it, they may be f'd up with urban planning and business sense, but believe me that they have a strong intelligence and read all the sex boards and watch all the youtube videos about Sosua. So who are we fooling. They know. And after the Cuba Dave BS he published in the Miami New Times in 2013, they know. And now there are many new cats who are youtubers giving up info like hoes on Pedro Clisante. Why can't fellas shut the f--k up? The message about the old Sosua caused the original Rhumbas, Passions, and CPM to close. All the white catering businesses do not have police in front but all the Super Bowl activity this weekend is on the radar.
The police will soon focus on BS enforcement, like petty traffic citations, and with that will come bribes. You see what's happening with the motoconcho checkpoints and impounds of bike. The police will impound rental cars and give citations to the car loads of black gringos with NFL jerseys, and it happen last year and the year before that. I know a few lawyers who were used to help fellas get out of driving and rental car issues. So why go to a small banana republic country and wildout as if you are in the states, doing what Dominicans do? Why go to Sosua and become an easy target? And it beats me why anyone would try and open a business in Sosua to work for pesos. You will never be allowed to go to the DR to get over. The Dominicans are nice people, but everyone see an American, Canadian, or European as a target. And a business woman in Sosua told me that in their mind, any gringo who moves to their country must be broke, and move to the DR because they are barely affording to live in their country. I have been going to Sosua and DR since 2009, and all I can say is do not let the Dominicans play us, because they have enough knowledge to manipulate us with their home field advantage and will always be 2 steps ahead of all you let them know from their free ISG membership and free youtube subscription.
Enjoy the Super Bowl! I can't wait for all of you to leave so I can enjoy Sosua without the herds and hype!

A lot of crazy stuff still going on here, Superbowl weekend.
The boys are back in town, and so are the chicas, but now, instead of everybody on main street, the parties have moved to different locations around town, hotels, Ahnvee, smaller bars.
SW central (such as it is) runs now from the main corner up Pedro a little, and from the main corner up to NG. And there's a traffic jam in that area as the boys drive by to pick up a car load to go. And there's also the beach, which was active.
In spite of my personal reservation about renting cars in Sosua, it does seem to be the best way for a group to get around to the different parties, and pick up chicas. (As long as you let someone else drive. LOL).
The cops seem to have disappeared from the streets, but see below.
I walked past old rumba and bar central yesterday, and the boys were posted up watching the chicas go by but nowhere near the numbers of last year at this time. I carried on up to my local to meet a buddy, and he came in just after me and told me the cops showed up and had just closed up rumba, and bar central again. Didn't believe him (I was just there) until another buddy came in and confirmed. WTF? 4 or 5 times in 5 days? He explains shit about competing Official Orders, Court Injunctions, Cop raids, and Mayor's personal actions.
Completely fucked up, but I'm betting they'll be opened tomorrow again. Maybe even classico might be unchained in time. We'll see!

Posts: 271Its only sex and I don't disrespect any of the girls unless they try to rip me off.
Very few of us really know the daily hardships that the girls are confronted with.
A little kindness goes along way in the DR.

A shout out to you, and Mr Gogo, who introduced me to Susua 10 years ago, and showed me how to navigate this fucked up paradise!

Perfect way to keep people ignorant though. If you still want to call it El Flow, then I will go along and act like it is El Flow. Nevermind correcting someone and teaching them better. That is how you get a country and a world full of dummies. (The movie Idiocracy comes to mind.) But as long as your vacation runs smoothly, fuck it.

Posts: 1509Rumba Bar is history. No matter if folks still want to refer to that space as "Rumba. " Those of us who partied in Rumba from the beginning know what time it is. Rumbas, CMP, Passions, D'Latin ain't coming back. Even if you call the Chinese store D'Latin or whatever, it ain't coming back LOL.

For those of us who live here and know Sosua well, we are aware that locals:.
A. Don't speak formal Spanish.
Arguments and misunderstandings over language, are a waste of time.
B. Do not understand the Western concept of Name, Number, Street, Town.
They go by landmarks, designated by their own local usage. Rumba is always at the main corner, no matter what it is called today. So-called New Rumba, is still referred to as Morua Mai, El Flo is still what they call the various names for Premium Bar, and Classico is how they refer to Club 59 Disco.
Even La Passion, a burnt out hulk, now occupied by Hatian squatters, is still a known destination of moto drivers, and they'll drop you off at that corner. The Texaco station will always be a landmark, no matter if it changes name tomorrow. don't ask them to take you to Mateo's Seaside bar, because it will always be Britannia Pub. Or Rehab on the beach. You'll have more luck with Scandinava bar. Longest occupation rules!
C. They tolerate, but have no real respect for mongers. Only their dinero!
They generally consider mutual time spent with mongers, even long and mutually groping conversations as working time, and expect something in return. They consider "fist bumps" and handshakes from strangers as an express desire to be friends.
D. They operate under a different economy than foreigners.
Those who expect that when a restaurant tab says "propina included", that's what it means. Servers rarely, if ever, get to share that!
E. Hoes consider everything they do with a john, in addition to lying there and letting you pound their ass for a designated period of time is worthy of a propina. Even sitting with you in your favorite restaurant over a candlelit dinner when they are starving, Lol. They'd often prefer to be somewhere else!
Forget the enthusiastic squeals, and writhing, "Si mas papi", it is not your sexual prowess they are impressed by. Lol.
F. Renting a car is mostly a scam game! Nothing like the TV commercials at home.
Damage assessment is in the eye of the beholder, CC insurance is often not recognized or disputed, proper maintenance is rare and can lead to breakdown, and deposits are withheld in disputes, you are an invitation to moto accident set ups, and cop check point scams.
************************
So that's how DR works for the average, and newbie, monger, and yes, they are street smart experts at psychology, and can size up a non resident in a New York Minute!
Now you can argue about who is right and who is wrong forever, and stand on your own "foreign" (to them), principles, but you'll be doing that all your trip, at the expense of your peaceful and harmonious, well earned, vacation.
But some mongers love these constant challenges and confrontations to their sense of right, it pumps up their jaded adrenaline, and gives them a high! As the endless stream of same old, same old, stories of rip offs, and attempted rip offs posted here attest to. I hear it all the time from some guys here who just seem to have a Charly Brown dark cloud that seems to follow them around! Lol
These folks should be avoided like the plague for a peaceful, harmonious vacation.
I do that and in 10 years of visiting and living here I can't say I have ever been ripped off, once!
My 4 year regular has to be schooled once in a while, that my dinero is limited, by my budget, and my inclination, and that I'm not an ATM machine. Sometimes I have to send her home for to make that point. It used to be hard to do that when they give you everything they have got to give, but reality must prevail or you join the ranks of the bitterly disappointed, and even controlled.
My two cents for a happy and satisfying visit!
I love my life here with the locals.
But that's because I understand them well, live in their culture, and not my own!
