I'd agree that it's a difficult position for the few legitimate bar owners.

Legitimate businessmen the world over do not go into the prostitution business, particularly in a country where prostitution is illegal. Yes, yes, I know. The girls are only Guest Relations Officers and not prostitutes. The bar fine is more correctly an Early Work Release Permit, allowing the Guest Relations Officer to leave work early so that the bar can recover the revenue which she would have generated from drink sales. Hahahahaha. Many gullible Australian and American retirees, who fancied themselves as international hospitality industry tycoons, invested in bars in AC, but quickly went bust. They didn't realize you needed a proper business plan, beyond what they could draw on a wet cocktail napkin. They also didn't realize the connections needed within city hall and the additional monthly expenses to be made. Most of the other bars are run by international crime syndicates with the full connivance of the police. You all know what the main game is.

In the old days, every kid in RWML dreamt of being a photographer for Playboy. Many mongers think they would be living their dream by owning a bar in AC.

I know a few bar owners (not AC but other main cities) who are in huge debt and getting super stressed. The debt needs paying regardless of the virus (banks really don't care despite protestations to the contrary) plus their are other 'debts' that need paying also and that group also don't care much either. A double whammy and can't see a way out of it for some IMHO. Am sure some others are circling like vultures but it does not seem an ideal scenario for many whether you own the bar or use it etc.

I assume the Mt Pinatubo eruption in the early nineties would have shut the AC streets also. AC did come back.

This current event going to lead to a a major change of the monger-girl business. With less venues in AC nature says that there will be new avenues for making contact. This time maybe the internet will be AC's death.

The difference between the current situation and the '90's is that now political will and support for red light areas and industries is rapidly fading. Also, those operating merely as front businesses can easily and quickly relocate to areas offering more cover and support.

I've posted before about the numerous easier options for a pretty girl to earn cash than move to a shit hole town, be labelled for life as a whorre, be bored all night every night to meet low end punters. (No offense intended).

Post C19, I don't see AC disappearing entirely but unfortunately it won't be returning bigger and better.

The problems I can see and am hearing from most bar owners is that the longer the lockdown goes on the harder it will be to open back up in the future due to lack of funds to hang on.

We go to MGCQ on July 15th and I don't think it changes then either. It will remain Blocked IMO till total curfew and quarantines are lifted full 100 % whenever the hell that may be. Phillies and Envy are open to pick up only I think 10 am to 8 pm drug stores and 7-11's open But tha'ts pretty much it. 83 days and counting. I don't see anything changing much torards Night life openings till SEPT 1st at earliest. Its over here the party is over.

That's exactly what happened when I was pulled over for a minor traffic infringement, I had my front bike wheel just over the white line at a traffic light.

I was hungry anyway so I said I would wait at the Jollibee while he got his new book of tickets.

About an hour later he came back realising I didn't know how the corrupt cop ticket scam works. He returned my licence and went away. No ticket, no fine, no bribe.
