RB Dave, thanks for your posts. Unfortunately there is no Krabi forum. On the Centerpoint. Info website they mention bars named Kang, Smile, Chang, and others. Are these the actual bars with girls for takeout? I'll be visiting for 2 nights in at the end of the month. Hope it doesn't rain too much.

Yesterday while waking around Krabi I found a street with massage parlors, one had posters of sexy girls outside, another had a fishbowl visible from the sidewalk (doors were open) , also a massage + karaoke place. Many other + looking places. This is on Maharaj 5 (soy?) west of the big north-south Maharaj boulevard.

No idea of the costs and services.

Do you know the reason to why the night life has developed in the wrong direction in Ao Nang? Any other P4P to be had nearby?

This probably should be in the Krabi forum since we are talking about Krabi.

I imagine the reason the P4P died down is simple lack of demand. Remember that Thailand is not all about sex tourism, there are lots of other things to do. Even in Patong, Phuket P4P has dwindled with the influx of families looking for a sun holiday.

There may still be some short-time / massage places in Krabitown. It's a good 20 minute ride by motorbike. Not really that great in my opinion.

Are the bar area away from the family-action in Ao Nang or is it mixed with the main tourist area. Are there any P4P out on the Prah Nang peninsula?

If you walk 200m inland up the road from the southern end of the beach strip at Ao Nang there is a row of about12 bars on the right side. Easy to miss if you are not looking hard enough. Not a huge number of girls but enough for a week's visit and some good quality ones at that. I much prefer the low profile scene at Krabi than the bawdiness of Phuket or, God-forbid, Pattaya.

Come on Krabi is not a mongering destination yet Ao Nang has 2 bar areas. Probably its better than Chiang Mai for bars!

The idea is you take the hot girl with you, who will not bore you over 2 to 3 days.

Many times I've passed through Hat Yai and also over the Malaysian Border on visits over the years.

It happens to be situated in a troubled 'region', but it's not something evident to casual visitors.

Government travel advisories tend to portray the entire south as though it will be like Helmand province.

Nowhere can be guaranteed 100% safe, but it certainly doesn't feel like a "war zone" to be in Hat Yai.

I just saw this and had a good chuckle. You want a war zone, go to Pattaya during Songkran. Hatyai is about as dangerous as lunch in the Oriental Hotel tea room.

But Betong he knows. He never been there before, but have see and read so many things about Hat Yai. He knows more than those going there, I m sure he ever knows where you can find drug addicts in this town. So yes stay away from Hat Yai. Nothing for you there. The Thai MILF in local brothels will never go under 200 baths (7 USD).

The fun is in getting the experience. Going off the beaten path, regardless of what you find. You know, whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

I wouldn't trade my adventures in Cambodia or Myanmar, good and bad, for all the go-gos in Pattaya.

Cheers. Because the info on Ban Phe was scarce, it probably does look like a lot of hassle when put up in four large slabs of text. Until finding those local Brothels towards the end, which were far more clear cut in what went on, it was a case of a few red herrings and general walking around when in Ban Phe before going to, or coming back from, Koh Samet. More than anything it could be information that fellas pausing in Ban Phe while on en-route to Koh Samet, or in Ban Phe overnight before taking the bus back to BKK could use to scoot off for a 'quickie' I guess. Overall I agree that there would be no reason to venture 'out' specifically to Ban Phe, unless there was action existing there hidden from view that was missed (possible). Due to the language barrier, it was less easy to find out from locals, unlike in Indonesia. My budget wasn't high, so B500 ST suited me and was closer to the sort of prices being paid in Bali.
