Arrive July 4th Medellin (from Bog) stayed at Haven for 3 nights, Jacuzzi room with balcony, has a terrific view from the rooftop. Pool is tiny, so it is the bar / restaurant. Most of the people there were amateur "mongers". They had no clue what to do or where to go. Constant parade of girls in & out / small elevator. Jacuzzi is overrated & dangerous. Flooded the room. No place to sit, no desk but staff brought in extra furniture for me. Nice people. Get a large room if you stay there. Forget the Jacuzzi. IMHO. I went to La Isla and had a great time. Took down numbers. Had 2 sessions. $320 cop what a deal. LOL Met up with xyztravel there. Also my driver (bilingual). Had (I think it was only one) Seeking girl over, disappointing. Was a pro not a SB. $400 cop Too much party vibe for me. I would stay there again just for the view.

July 8 - 19th I checked into Dann Carlton Medellin. I must have stayed 4 weeks in total over the 60 days I was in Colombia. It felt like home. The guests are mostly Colombian business people, government people with a few well traveled "mongers" who had shopped around over the years. I used the pool, walked around the neighborhood to the river park & Poblado Park and lots of small local restaurants. Asked a SA girl (hot) over and we enjoyed some time together, had dinner after. Suddenly she gets a call that her mom is having seizures and she cancels the remainder of the night. (dah, the girls play too many games in Med) Met an executive from an unnamed social media company. LOL and took him to La Isla. I found a pro dancer (video productions etc.) working there and we ended up spending 3 nights together at Dann Carlton. What's the count now, maybe 10 or so over 10 nights? Avg still high, 400 cop. Went to a private presidential penthouse party with xyztravel. The Colombian president Márquez was in the building, 30 soldiers and bomb sniffing golden retrievers downstairs. Xyz can tell us about these escapades. I brought him a present. And he was forced to do her #7 (I think for the night. Too many girls, not enough time. Don't know how he does it. FB girls mostly. Ask him for the secret. There may have been some recreational substances. I also visited Lleras circled many times with my driver. Took numbers. There were no girls that were dressed well enough to get past the Dann Carlton fron desk. So I passed. I have asked a couple of them to shower less because I wanted to smell something other than soap, perfume and deodorant. They know I am clean but I don't bother showering until after they arrive because they want to see it. They must've all attended a Puta Convention somewhere because in the last three weeks, off all sudden, I got to brush my teeth first, too. I haven't kept count and my numbers are not grande, but I echo what my fellow mongers are saying. Agreed. It also gained appeal bcos Uber was under pressure to be banned for a while. Indriver nearly always turns out cheaper. I would use it myself if I were to use taxis much.

Yeah, I understand the motivation, and to say the Colombian market is price sensitive would be an understatement. I was more amazed about how rapid and tuned in "the masses" are at adapting to the market here, which I assume we used to say occurred by word-of-mouth, and that social media has now replaced. I guess word-of-mouth was the original social medial, jaja. I'm old. And in my drug addled head, I was thinking about how much different the market would be, if at all, in the USA for InDriver.

As an Enternational traveler yourself, perhaps you have been stuck with the glut of consumer choices we have in the United States compared to most other places in the world. I feel it gets obscene sometimes. I mean really, 47 kinds of dogfood and gawd knows how many different brand of toilet paper when how much of the world is not getting enough to eat? A quarter or more? I remember being shocked the first time I started venturing out of modern industrialized nations and went to stores with mostly empty shelves. Stuff you just don't see in the USA. Random gratuitous fotos from this morning. My addictions are in full swing. The girls are arriving as if they are on a conveyer belt. I have both uber and indriver apps on my cell. When you want to go somewhere get a price for the trip from uber first, then switch over to indriver and enter a price 20-30% lower than the uber price and bid that price on indriver.

I also like the convenience of having uber tied to my creditcard so cashless transaction, but if I am going to save 20-30% on the ride then I don't mind paying the peso rate to the driver.

Also many more cars available on indriver, including taxis.

I think mi novia pays one combined bill per month for the electric, gas, and water, on the Internet, and then pays a separate bill for the Internet itself. I should be paying closer attention but she's surprisingly good with a budget.

The cost for services and cable is prorated based upon the estrato of the neighborhood. You'll pay more in an estrato 6 area than in an estrato 4 area.

The first apartment I was in was also 3 beds, 2 baths in an estrato 6 area at the south end of Poblado. With my roommate, who took 2 or 3 showers daily, left lights on and had all the lights setup 5 nights a week for her webcam broadcasts, I think the highest we paid was 170 k. We had a dedicated Fiber line for internet, which cost 445 k monthly.

At the place in Laureles, still had a webcam model broadcasting, but with all LED lights, and didn't have someone running a hair dryer every day. I think the highest was 110 k. Initially has cable installed, for around 120 k, but then had to go with fiber, because the speed was only hitting 2 Mbps on the upload side.

I'm going off memory on most of this, but it should be reasonably close.

Cost of a very nice 3 bed, 3.5 bath apartment in a nice area of Laureles, unfurnished, was 1. 6 million pesos. This was a big place, about 1900 sqft, 2 blocks north of UPB and far enough from La 70 to be quiet. You can find 1 bed, 1 bath places for 1 million, in a good estrato 5 neighborhood. Utilities were about 100 k monthly and cable and internet was about 120 k. Call it about 1. 5 million with all utilities, for a fair sized 1 bed apartment, with all utilities, or around $450 monthly.

For lunch I usually prefer the little Colombian places, cost about 12 k average. For dinner I splurge more, but still average about 25 k. Breakfast I prefer to make something simple, less than 5 k daily. Call it another 1. 2 million for food. Using the Metro and buses kept my travel costs to about 300 k monthly.

All together, you can live pretty good on 3 million COP monthly, not counting entertainment expenses. Call it $800 monthly.

You're going to have setup costs, buying furniture and all the stuff you need in the apartment. If you keep your hooker budget under 1 million weekly, you're looking at $2200 per month, all in.

If you need to be close to Parque Lleras, you might need $5000, but it's not a necessity.
