I know some dominicans see gringos as show offs. They say, they come here and act rich, but in their country they not rich. There's some truth to that. But most guys are just enjoying a hard earned vacation while also enjoying the exchange rate.

I've also had chicas complain that I pay the same price I paid 2 years ago. They seem to have no concept of supply and demand. LOL. Its all good, just interesting.

It is fun.

I spend far more time with local semi pros and ex hookers than with ex pats, and mongers. Some I've known for 10 years. Some are are now sad sacks that I help out with a few pesos when they are hungry (for old times sake, Lol) and quickly send them on their way.

I'm retired. Back home we have 5 months of winter, guys my age are dying like flies. Here in the sun you can add a few more healthy and happy years to your life. Even on a limited budget, you can feel rich here.

Typically, while I'm having a beer in my local bar, We got a young local beauty that would stop traffic back home, who goes down the street and does my shopping, agua, leche, pan, coffee, fruta, imported beer. Yesterday she sent a chico to climb to the very top of a big tree to get me some ripe mangos. I buy her a beer. And promise that one day when my regular is not around, I'll fuck her. She tells me what she'll do for me! We've been having this same conversation for the last 3 years, but she's just a good amiga, one of our circle of locals.

I was there 2 weeks ago and had the same experience Ahnvee is a great venue. Plenty of room and women. No one enjoyed Classicos any more then me but I did not miss it. What I did miss was sitting in front of El flow and watching afternoon action stroll the streets. One of my buddies is on the ground giving me updates. Says the place is packed and he is having a ball.

Just got back from my first visit in 2 years. If I didn't go with my gut instinct and listened to everything I've read in this thread, one would think Sosua dried up like the desert, with empty presidente bottles left behind.

I enjoyed my stay, just like I've had on many trips in the past 12 years.

Ahnvee is the spot to be, finally they brought some style and class to the neighborhood, I really enjoyed everything about the outdoor party, the variety was top notch. The place has something for everyone.

Yesterday I was grabbing an early evening drink after a day at the beach, I stopped by the big outdoor corner spot across the street from Bourbon, I believe its called "Keens", idk for sure. There were about 3 tables with 4 chicas sitting at each, some gents along the bar stools including myself, and a few scattered around, it was not many people. As soon as I took my first sip from the bottle, a marked police truck rolled up, along with an unmarked truck with military looking personal, and some people that said municipal on their shirts, they walked in like a scene out of CSI, small crowds gathered looking at the commotion, I kept sipping my drink watching the show, minutes later the waitress came up with my check, I paid right away, continued enjoying my drink, the chicas were escorted out the back gate, after about 15-20 mins, the owner comes up to me and a coupe gents, asks us respectfully to finish our drinks and if all goes well come back in an hour.

The neighborhood did change, it feels a bit quieter, but its not dead, its not boring, they just cleaned it up a bit. It went under the radar for decades, and I have a good feeling in a matter of years, things will go back to the old grimy scene that it was made for. We have to keep in mind, it is election year as well.

There are always two sides to the story. I am sure mongers do not disrespect girls anywhere but at the same time have to be on guard. Not all girls okay fair. Many times pushes mongers to the limit. I am sure it happened to everybody. Case in point us I had a normal chica who stayed with me three days. Sweet, innocent aiming to please. I took care of her very well and trusted her. On the last I was not being careful to lock my phone. She stole the phone before leaving.

No need to treat girls badly but need to let them know you mean business. Otherwise they will use you and exploit your nice demeanor. Remember vast majority are seasoned prostitutes and they will never think twice about stealing, not providing good service, not sticking to the original deal etc.

I learned from my many travels to Rio, it's similar. Sosua is like the "Golden Triangle" of Copacabana. Many fellas were stuck and caught up with in Copa like they are in Sosua. For those of us who didn't rely on the Golden Triangle for our vacation in Rio, we still can go and leave there with smiles on our faces and leave it all there. I didn't do the boat parties, apartment parties, the frat parties, I didn't do Help, and I didn't do groups. If I saw you there then we greet, eat, and drink a chope. We left the dumb shit to the dumb drama to the fellas who go overseas to act like they are in the states. Super Bowl?

Again, Super Bowl! I do not want to knock it, but why go all the way to Sosua to watch the damn Super Bowl so the locals can exploit you! And that's what it is about, exploitation. The Sosuans are not stupid. The government and police are smart enough to have their own intelligence to know what they are doing. Grant it, they may be f'd up with urban planning and business sense, but believe me that they have a strong intelligence and read all the sex boards and watch all the youtube videos about Sosua. So who are we fooling. They know. And after the Cuba Dave BS he published in the Miami New Times in 2013, they know. And now there are many new cats who are youtubers giving up info like hoes on Pedro Clisante. Why can't fellas shut the f--k up? The message about the old Sosua caused the original Rhumbas, Passions, and CPM to close. All the white catering businesses do not have police in front but all the Super Bowl activity this weekend is on the radar.

The police will soon focus on BS enforcement, like petty traffic citations, and with that will come bribes. You see what's happening with the motoconcho checkpoints and impounds of bike. The police will impound rental cars and give citations to the car loads of black gringos with NFL jerseys, and it happen last year and the year before that. I know a few lawyers who were used to help fellas get out of driving and rental car issues. So why go to a small banana republic country and wildout as if you are in the states, doing what Dominicans do? Why go to Sosua and become an easy target? And it beats me why anyone would try and open a business in Sosua to work for pesos. You will never be allowed to go to the DR to get over. The Dominicans are nice people, but everyone see an American, Canadian, or European as a target. And a business woman in Sosua told me that in their mind, any gringo who moves to their country must be broke, and move to the DR because they are barely affording to live in their country. I have been going to Sosua and DR since 2009, and all I can say is do not let the Dominicans play us, because they have enough knowledge to manipulate us with their home field advantage and will always be 2 steps ahead of all you let them know from their free ISG membership and free youtube subscription.

Enjoy the Super Bowl! I can't wait for all of you to leave so I can enjoy Sosua without the herds and hype!

A lot of crazy stuff still going on here, Superbowl weekend.

The boys are back in town, and so are the chicas, but now, instead of everybody on main street, the parties have moved to different locations around town, hotels, Ahnvee, smaller bars.

SW central (such as it is) runs now from the main corner up Pedro a little, and from the main corner up to NG. And there's a traffic jam in that area as the boys drive by to pick up a car load to go. And there's also the beach, which was active.

In spite of my personal reservation about renting cars in Sosua, it does seem to be the best way for a group to get around to the different parties, and pick up chicas. (As long as you let someone else drive. LOL).

The cops seem to have disappeared from the streets, but see below.

I walked past old rumba and bar central yesterday, and the boys were posted up watching the chicas go by but nowhere near the numbers of last year at this time. I carried on up to my local to meet a buddy, and he came in just after me and told me the cops showed up and had just closed up rumba, and bar central again. Didn't believe him (I was just there) until another buddy came in and confirmed. WTF? 4 or 5 times in 5 days? He explains shit about competing Official Orders, Court Injunctions, Cop raids, and Mayor's personal actions.

Completely fucked up, but I'm betting they'll be opened tomorrow again. Maybe even classico might be unchained in time. We'll see!
