about ten years ago i postet here my first summary of prostitution in vienna, but it is no longer online and outdated. here is a new version, which i will update from time to time, because there is a lot of recent information which change sometimes fast. this report is dated summer 2009. i am paysex client in vienna since 25 years and native viennese, so my english may not be perfect. if you find some errors, correct me, i do know much but not everything.

prostitution is completely legal in vienna – with some limitations for the girls, which i will mention later. to be in full compliance with laws, a woman who wants to prostitute herself has to register at the authorities of vienna and has to undergo an official weekly health check. at this time, 2009, there are about 1.850 registered girls in vienna, and even more work without registration, mainly in escort services and massage parlours. in vienna you can choose between 100 night-bars, 200 sexclubs, 10 of them huge, and 160 massage-parlours – nearly 500 locations where you can get sex and erotic services against payment – not to speak about the 100 escort-agencies and the countless streetgirls. so many say, vienna is a big brothel as a whole – many possibilities to choose. here are the details:


1. street prostitution
till 20 years ago, street prostitution was a main part of the vienna scene. official regulations, which prohibit street prostitution in some areas in vienna and 150 m around every church, kindergarten, or similar official locations, and the outcome of the internet have diminished street prostitution. about 1960 the street girls were banned from the inner city, and till around 2000 the gürtel area was the main scene. today you hardly find any girl at gürtel, because churches are nearly everywhere, and due to the regulations mentioned above there are only very few fitting places at gürtel.today you find street girls mainly in the prater area and in the area behind westbahnhof.

prater area
in the area near messe (messestraße, nordportalstraße) mainly coulored women are found, and sometimes many. usually they provide the act in the car, or in the bushes there. on the other side of ausstellungsstraße, there is a housing area called stuwerviertel. street prostitution is prohibited there, nevertheless you find streetwalkers there, mainly at daytime. police tries to get them out of there, and for the unexperienced client it is difficult there, he even may be fined by police.

westbahnhof area
in this area mainly women from eastern europe are found. the streets are felberstraße, linzer straße, parts of hütteldorfer straße, and mariahilfer straße west of gürtel (called outer mariahilfer straße). the authorities want to ban street walkers from outer mariahilfer straße, but they are not very successful. streetwalkers on felberstraße, hütteldorfer straße and linzer straße are competely legal, often checked by police. the act is provided either in the car or in clubs nearby. the prices depend on area, service provided and hour of night and start about eur 30,-. the standard price for covered oral and intercourse is about eur 40 to 50 (prater area: 30); if going to a club in the westbahnhof area, calculate eur 70 and more. some streetwalkers provide uncovered services, often the charge that higher. although the health status of the prostitutes in vienna is good, i do not recommend uncovered service with streetwalkers for health reasons. it’s a bit risky.


2. massage parlours

3. escorts
the escort scene in vienna is very unusual for international clients, so read this carefully.

First, my disclaimer: I am not a doctor.

Second, I think you're over-reacting.

From what I understand, you had a BJ with your penis covered by a condom. While STDs could be transmitted orally, unless the condom was broken, it's highly unlikely a disease could have been transmitted to you that way.

Also, I think I'm reading that the cut is NOT on your penis. I don't see how this can give you a STD even it was caused the girl's fingernail. You're more likely to get a mild infection from skin-born bacteria, something anyone can get anytime. Soulgasm, I am a physician and an infectious diseases expert as well. I agree whole heartedly with my non-medical collegue. You appear to be completely over-reacting to this incident. More likely you had a reasonably fresh cut due to any number of reasons and only noticed it because of the irritating effect of the disinfectant / soap.

Let's just say I know someone very close to me (wink, wink) who had a similar experience and similar emotions. And this person eventually realized it was nothing - who would think seeing a piece of lint on the privates would cause so much anxiety, :-). As for malicious act, it sounded as if you and the SP had an acceptable experience. From what you said, there was no reason for her to do anything purposely to hurt you. My bet is she may have accidentally nicked you with a fingernail while putting the condom on you.

Well, the answer to your question is somewhat complicated and even among experts you may find different approaches. There is the approach that dictates testing after any theoretical exposure and then there is the practicle approach. I tend to use the former.

Let's start with the big one, HIV. First we have to establish risk. While there are many variables to consider including an infected persons stage of illness, viral load etc, in general, the risk of transmission (outside of Africa for reasons I won't go into here), from female to male is approximately 1/1000 for each act. This assumes unprotected vaginal intercourse with a KNOWN HIV positive female. Now, if intercourse is protected and if the females HIV status is unknown (and likely negative), the risk is very very very low. Fortunately, the HIV virus is not very efficient at transmission outside of direct blood contact. So you can see that if you protected the risk is exceedingly small. The risk of HIV transmission from a BBBJ, while likely not absolutely zero, is so small the risk appoaches zero.

Employing a less scientific approach to reducing risk, one should stay away from lower end street girls, that statistically are more likely to engage in higher risk behaviours such as IV drug abuse, sharing needles etc than high end escorts. Obviously this is a generalization, but there is some ancedotal evidence to support this approach.

Based on what you have stated, I would NOT recommend an HIV test. The downside of testing in situations where there is a low pre-test probability is that all tests are prone to some degree of false positives and in a situation like that, you will suffer several months of anxiety before the situation is resolved.

Of greater concern, are some of the other STIs such as HSV, Chlamydia, GC, and mycoplasma infections. All of these are much easier to contract. In many cases, the female may be asymptomatic and not even know she is infected. Fortunately, most, although not all, males tend to be symptomatic. Both Chlamydia and GC, although fucking unpleasant, are reasonably easy to treat. A single 400mg tab of cefixiime for the GC and 1 gram of azithromycin will clear up most cases.

Mycoplasma presents very similar to Chlamydia and is treated much the same, although longer courses of antibiotics are sometimes required as the failure rate is higher.

While I shouldn't recommend this, whenever I travel to Vienna (Babylon) about 4 times a year, I swallow cefixime and azithromycin prophylactically on my way home the plane. You didn't hear that from me LOL.

HSV is the real bastard, because it is quite prevalent and as you know, there is no cure, although treatments exist to minimize the outbreak.

In any event, based on what you've said, I wouldn't go running in to some clinic to get tested. Doesn't sound to me like you have anything to worry about.
