Hey guys,I've been reading the reports so keep up the good work. But I do have a question, I may have a job opportunity coming up where I will get to live in tokyo I was just wondering if some of you regulars travelers or current residents can tell me whether 670,000 yen a month is enough to live and play on in tokyo, I also will be getting another 55,000 yen for housing? Just asking, you can just send me a PM.

Assuming you are single and have no loans to cover, you can afford to play 3 or 4 days a week at AM, or twice a week at many soaplands.An 'average' salaryman in Japan in his 30s makes maybe 470, 000 yen a month, and that is WITHOUT a housing allowance.If your priorities are sufficiently warped, you can drown yourself in pussy with monthly income of 720,000 / month. What standard of living are you looking to have? 55, 000 Yen alone isn't going to get you housing anywhere near the Yamanote line, so you'll either have to live further out (hopefully your firm is covering train fare as well) , or you'll have to spend some of your salary on housing. If you are single and aren't looking to live the high life in Roppongi Hills. 700, 000+ Yen pre-tax a month should be enough to live and occasionally play in Tokyo, though.

I'd expect you'd want to spend more like 80-120, 000 yen a month on rent. The big cost is getting an apartment, deposit, key money, real estate agent fee, first months rent, could be 6 months rent in advance (2+2+1+1) , how much of that comes out of your pocket? This isn't really the appropriate forum but there's plenty of info available on line.

There might be four or five one week, then none for several weeks.

Was I satisfied? Yes.

Value for money? I've gotten more for less, but this is not a regular thing for me anymore, so yes. I sure do not feel like I was ripped off.

OK, just had a new experience. Was walking back to my hotel after going out for breakfast, and was approached by a young lady who asked me if I wanted a massage. I'm going to Tokyo in 1 week and will be staying in Saitama near Soka. I mean can I just go to Nishi Kawaguchi around 8PM or so and get approached. Do I really need to go after mid night when subways stop running? I have very limited Nihongo conversation skills mostly just a lot words I can put together to sound like full sentences. I'm white short hair cut and handsome looking clean cut type. BTW, the girls that approach are they Japanese or Chinese?

But the vast majority of action happens around midnight. It depends on the night I guess.Just hang a right when you leave the ticket gate. When I got in (around 11am) it was absolutely dead.
