Tokyo

It is a term used on this board to refer to situations in which shops charge higher prices to foreigners than to Japanese customers.

For example, if a shop charges a Japanese customer 15000 but charges a foreigner 20000 then there is a "gaijin tax" of 5000.

It is not an official government tax.

Horribly outdated and not useful for what I asked. I did not ask for p4p info, I already know that having been to Japan over 40 times. I asked something I could not find in the threads. I believe in helping other senor members or paid members when they ask- THAT is what this forum is about, sharing info so others can learn. Especially with someone who has contributed (you can see my reports her and my accounts of my trips to Japan) to the forum.

I understand you believe you are to "SENIOR" to help other paying members. There will be a time you go somewhere else and need info, I hope for your sake some dumb ass dose not post "Go look in the forums to find the info". I hope they respect you are a payed up senior member with a history of contributing to the forum and share one minute of their time and help out.

I wanted to go to a soapland mentioned at the forums here but I couldn`t find it. So asked the most polite tout (Japanese) who had approached me this night. (He was later to prove to be not so polite and kind of scary.)

He called many times, on his cell phone.

Finally after what seemed like 8-10 minutes I said, thanks anyway, I will be on my way. Well the guy stayed with me, saying hey I have been calling for you. Finally I had to basically tell him to get off me. They really are persistent. I felt I had given him his shot. He tried finding a place that.

Would accept me for 810 minutes, and I had waited patiently. So I guess the moral of the story is, if you go with a tout you got to accept whatever happens. My incident was not such a big deal but a little bit scary. I could hear this Japanese tout mouthing off about me to a group of black touts.

So then I wondered if I was going to be followed by a group of black guys. They bank on you being a nice guy, which most of us are. You may have to tell them to F Off if they are too persistent. Fortunately I am a big guy, and probably not a good guy to follow or hassle. Not that I would fight anyone unless I was forced to defend myself.backed into a corner I couldn`t get out of. The search function is hit or miss and we really need more categories for Japan, similar to the excellent TAG forum. This forum is great as it covers the world.

For specific info on Tokyo, TAG is the best in my opinion. I think some of the members get upset if the same questions are asked many times, or asked in the wrong section. They have answered them many times. I try to answer as much as I can in the hopes that my questions will be answered to.

Pay it forward in other words.
