Tokyo a good gateway to Asia.
Recently low cost airlines like JAL's Zipair have very low fares to cross the Pacific to Asia. I once booked Zipair RT LAX to Narita $424. From Tokyo many regional airlines fly to other cities in Asia very cheap.
Most times Zipair's fares are about $100 lower than parent JAL, no food but free wifi. Zip load factor has been consistently 75 to 85 % compared to JAL's 25 to 35 on same routes. They will have to figure out how to make the most profit.
Kabukicho has lots of good food and exciting entertainment 24/7. Dozens of cheap love hotels are within walking distances. Hotel Appa Shinjuku is at the center of everything, or try hotel Premiere Cabin right next to the infamous Okubo Park where some extremely attractive young girls hang out.
I usually stay 2 nights in Shinjuku before flying on to Asia, also a night or more on the way back to make sure no problems with connecting flights.
For quick lay over, consider Thermae Yu (local name Shinjuku Spa La), a large hot bath / sauna about 5 minutes walk East of Okubo Park, open 24/7, 4 stories of baths, spa, sauna, massages, bars, food. It costs 3600 why or $24 for 12 hours, add 2000 why or $14 if stay all night past midnight. It's very nice in cold winter.
The easiest way to Kabukicho Tower from Narita (2. 5 hours) and Haneda (1. 5 hours) is by Tokyu Express Bus right outside the terminal. Hundreds of restaurants, bars, clubs ect, some 24/7, surround the tower, all within walking distances.
Lots of ayce wagyu and sushi deals in the area.
Hotel Premier Cabin Shinjuku
About $75 on line, good Japanese breakfast. It's right next to Okubo Park and the sidewalks around Okubo Hospital. Front door is open with room key cards. I saw a Japanese guy take an obvious street girl with umbrella and water bottle in the elevator with me; reception did not even look up. He immediately embraced and felt her up in the hallway after getting out of the elevator.
On a few narrow streets around Okubo Hospital I have seen a few hot street girls hang out. Any girl standing around with an umbrella, hand bag and water bottle is a potential street girl. One was tall, light skin, long legs, pretty face, so hot, I wanted her, but she was picked up by a Japanese guy after a long talk. They went in the love hotel right behind her. The street action was sparse, night was very cold, I speak zero Japanese, so I did not spend much time outside.
Hotel Appa Shinjuku is right in front of the Kabukicho Tower, in the middle of all actions, restaurants, bars, clubs ect, with the large empty lot where homeless kids hang out, play games with their friends all night. A Japanese-speaking ISG bro said a hot girl hit on him as I was standing right there with him. So take your risks. I know Hotel Appa in Roppongi has no reception control. You can take anyone in bypassing reception. Not sure if Appa Shinjuku is so easy. Walk in, try it out and advise.
Dozens of hotels near Kabukicho Tower have signs out front, renting by the hour or all night, about 1500-2500 why ST to 3500-5000 why all night. They are all within 3 -5 minute walk of Kabukicho Tower and each other.
Japanese women's opinion of night work.
Over the years, I've met quite a few American women who found themselves living and working in Japan. Of course, many of them are teachers or low paid office ladies who realize that upward mobility for women working within Japanese companies isn't always great. That led to a few of them taking hostess jobs, because Japan puts certain foreigners on a pedestal, and for an even smaller few, it led even further to night work.
Obviously, not everyone is built for this world, but I found that not everyone had a negative take on the world of pay to play. One chick who was about my age said that while she could never do this in the states, doing it in Japan hasn't been bad at all. She also added that when she mentions it to a few select Japanese female friends, they don't even bat an eye because many of them have done it and all of them know someone who has done it. My friend concluded with, the stigma and shame just isn't there. My life would be over if my American friends found out.
This lead me to wonder, does anyone on the board have good enough Japanese where they've inquired about Japanese women's feeling on night work? Do they hate it? Do they hate the men? Do they find themselves having to grin and bear it? Or do they enjoy it from time to time?
Just curious.
