It's a bit off topic but I found a service apartment which is fine with unmarried couples, since I am not from Bangalore I would like to know is it safe? Is there lot of harassment by the cops for bribery or anything because I have seen this happen a lot in Mumbai. It's a good service apartment in a main area not dingy.

The Thai ladies who I know that have come to India did not go through agents. They heard from friends who were already here. Sorted their own visas out and paid for their own flights.

You need job sponsorship letters to come on work visa, and multiple other documents such as company registration, employment contract etc etc and then taxation issues for both employer and the Thai person comes into picture. Most of these spas are fly by night operators. They can't get into all these hassles. Plus they cannot risk employing Thais directly without references etc. That's where agents step in, who are networked into this business, and have necessary contacts in ministry to do this business on a regular basis. For spa owners its safer and convenient to deal with agents here. Biggest issue if they work here for 6 months (which is what most do) is to send back money home, which is impossible without the agents.
