I've tried getting a girl in at HI at Mumbai, but the Security stopped us at the reception and asked the lady to produce an ID. Though I told them she was my friend, the receptionists took her ID, whispered something among themselves and told me I wouldn't be allowed to take her to the room. That was a very embarrassing situation to be in. Luckily, my check out from that Hotel was scheduled the next day, so kind of escaped from there. Haven't gone to that Hotel since then. But yeah, most of the other star hotels, I think, are safe do a deed. In my case as mentioned above, the hotel lift operated only with the room access card, so I had to come down to pick the lady up from the reception.

I have had success at other hotels in places like Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi (though got cheated 2-3 times), but it always worried me that all these hotels had installed CCTV cameras on the Hotel Corridors.
