For hiv prevention you can take post exposure prophylaxis within 72 hours of the incident. The drugs need to be taken for 1 month. Meet a local STD specialost.

1. If you suspect an exposure, time you should wait to do an HIV antibody test: 3-4 weeks (if you go before 3-4 wks, you run the risk of not detecting a positive result).

2. Risk of female-male HIV transmission: 0. 04% - 0. 4% (very low but still unacceptable since if you use a condom, it's almost 0%.)
