This mostly happens to me in the US when initially talking to Spanish speakers and it happens when initially speaking with Thais in Thailand. I think it is more so that they are not listening and are only anticipating that you do not and are not speaking their language.

Speaking of anticipation, it absolutely drives me crazy when meeting Dumbminican chicks online. The first thing I say is Hola. Que estas haciendo? Literally 99% of the time they will respond only saying Hola as if they didn't see the question, or by answering the wrong question and answering bien y tu. Really liking Medellin, the place is beautiful in places and the people are so friendly even if you don't speak Spanish.

I staying in an air BnB apartment just off calle 33 in Laureles and it's good here. Visited El Poblado yesterday and wasn't a fan, too busy, although more people speak English.

I probably won't come back until I speak some Spanish though. It's not much of a problem with the chicas, they are happy to use Google translate as long as you give them some alcohol and let them put some music on.

I have been to Thailand over 10 times now and got sick of the Thai women, not only do they not have the curvy bodies I prefer but the service off them gets worse every year.

Not only have I found the Colombian women to be better looking but more friendly, way sexier and better in bed. Only been with three so far so maybe I've been lucky.

About 2 years ago I stayed at Hotel LOS Recuerdos. It's about 10 minutes away from the town square, closer to The Rock. I asked for a quiet room and they gave me one facing the lake. Great pool and good restaurant. Go into town and get a boat tour around the lake (bring rain gear or at least a sweat shirt). And climb La Roca. I'm in my 60's, so it was a tough climb but the view was worth it.

I would stay there again.

I personally think it is worth staying the night. I don't have experience with a hotel but there are a ton of amazing Airbnb houses around. Get up the next day and climb el penol. Great side trip from Medellin.

There is one hotel called Benhamar in front of the lake. And there are many other hotels within walking distance. Boat ride and Zip lining right there.

Main church and city square where shops and discos are within walking distance. The rock (el penol) is a good 600+ steps walk to the top. There are juice bars at the top.
