Hey guys,

I am arriving in Medellin this week so I am brainstorming for important information as it comes to me.

One concern / question I have is about bringing a girl or girls back to my apartment with me. I have talked to many girls on cupid, so the arrangement requires going somewhere to have fun. I shouldn't have any lobby entry issues for being shaken down for money since I have an apartment rented in El Poblado area, but I have read some stories on occasion about the possibility of "sticky fingers" in my apartment, and even worse, girls that cause problems, especially when you bring more than one girl back. I plan to have more than one threesome during my trip so I am curious what that can involve. My apartment is my private sanctuary of course and these girls are all strangers to me, so I would like to get any and all thoughts on this topic. I speak almost no Spanish, but I do know some basic words. However a translator will be a requirement for me.

Chica friendly, hassle free? Or, is the best recommendation to use the love motels? What I'm saying is that you left a girl unattended in your apartment while you were in the shower. She called for a ride while you were in the shower. Instead of calling for a ride, she could have just unlocked the door for her friends waiting outside. That's basically how a guy got killed in Parque Lleras, December 2017. Stabbed during a robbery attempt.

February or early March of 2018 another guy left a girl unattended, while he went to the bathroom. When he came out she had taken the money from his wallet and his cellphone and left.

My experience is that if I have a date with a girl from Bello a taxi driver is not parked down the street for two hours waiting on a 20 mil cab fare. I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that not every woman, who is selling her ass in Medellin, is a perfect angel. I personally don't care, because I don't put myself in a situation where they can carry out any bad intentions. So the worst they can do is fail to live up to my expectations.

I've used both Tappsi and Easy Taxi apps to call cabs. If a girl is intending something bad and she knows what time she's seeing you, it's not difficult to have her friend come to her place and wait a few minutes for the pick up to go out over Easy Taxi. Just like, if she knows she'll be done with you at a certain time, it's not difficult to have a friend waiting to pick her up. Even if he's waiting 2 hours, what's he losing? 30 k? 50 k? Hell, if you're repeating with a girl, she already knows she'll be left alone to open the door while you're in the shower.

She might arrive with a familiar driver the first time she meets me but that's likely for her security. We know fewer crimes are committed in cooperation with taxis than unmarked vehicles.

Pardon me, but how do we know this? This sounds a lot like something made up because it supports your beliefs.

I've had 3 taxi drivers pick me up with the meter already well above the start rate. The first time I didn't notice it until I was halfway home. Cost me 12 k for a 6 k ride. The other times I caught it. I've had more than one driver try to give me the wrong change. In one case he claimed I had given him 10 k when I gave him 20 k. I've had a driver give me a counterfeit bill on change. A friend had a driver drive off with her cellphone. I had a driver attempt to drive off with my luggage. I've had drivers take "shortcuts" to run up the meter.

To be fair, I've had drivers who refused a tip, who gave me back my money when I mistakenly handed over a 50 k bill instead of a 5 k bill and who have been exceptionally kind, helpful and polite. Assuming someone is good or bad depending on whether they drive a taxi or an Uber is just wishful thinking.

Once again, this is silly. If you had said "motos" I would have agreed with you. I've been up where the not so nice guys live. Not a lot of garages up there. Not a lot of Renault or Chevy cars (the 2 types that most often show when I call Uber) parked on the street. Some old Mazdas and Nissans, some old Renaults, but not much in the way of late model sedans.

I ask them to take a yellow taxi because otherwise I don't know who it is when she arrives, and if I'm on a busy street which car is hers if unmarked. But I never know the taxi driver she arrives with although that is the same with Uber.

Now you're on to something. If you used an app to send a taxi to her, you know the license number and it's easy to see which one she is in. However, if you used Uber to call for a ride, you know the license number and the make and model of the car. And it's easy to see which one she is in.h

You do what works for you. But don't confuse the situation with exaggerated risks. You're putting yourself in a much riskier situation every time you leave a girl alone while you shower, than you are by letting her arrange her own ride.

What I do is (I stay at the Botero 2 blocks from the redlight blocks) after breakfast I walk thru the Vera Cruz block and the Raudal block and see what's out, usually alone.

Dress like you are going to Home Depot to pick up some lumber, (no shorts / sandals) if you have light colored hair wear a ball cap, don't take more cash then you need, carry a photocopy of your passport and leave the real thing in your room or with the front desk, keep your phone in your pocket and don't stand around, only stop to talk to a girl, don't go after 5 pm when the locals are off work and starting to get drunk. I usually walk through 3 or 4 times a day, if you find one you want, ask her how much to play, the Vera Cruz ones should be in the 30 k range plus room (not sure how much for the room, I always hand them 50 k and tell them to keep the change as a tip) and the hotter Raudal chicks 60-80 k room incld. They will walk you a few feet to the stairs up to a short term hotel, I've been in 4 or 5, nice enough, showers, clean sheets, some have porno TV. I give them the money at the front desk so they can pay and bring my own condoms. Just because you saw nobody hot on the 1st trip doesn't mean they won't be there on the next walk thru, it is hit or miss.

Vera Cruz is the block behind the old white Iglesia de la Veracruz (construction started in 1682). You want Carr 53 between Calle 51 and 52 both side of the street. Some bars along there you can go in for a beer. Ignore most the ones up front by the church, the trannies hang out there. If they look young ask to see their Cedula (ID). If you see nada, walk 2 blocks over to the Raudal area, basically the 2 northern corners of Calle 53 / Carr 54. Less women but usually some hotter ones. I find that block a little sketchier, esp as it gets later.

Remember, she has to only be $10-$20 hot.

After dark I switch to the Centro big 3 strip clubs (Conejitas, Barra Ejectiva & Maracaibo) with occasional taxis to Fase II. That is all I hit in Medellin, not a Casa fan or Escort fan due to no time to check attitude and possibly old or touched up pictures), will hit some FB friends who are super hot on my next trip most likely also.

Great selection that actually exemplifies what Centro is all about. Some decent looking girls, some very young, some a bit trashy (tattoos and what not) and a real gem of a girl (the one sat on a stool with the knee-high Roman sandals and the white dress). Mind you, that's clearly just my opinion and I am sure that most of you probably wouldn't give her a second look!

But that's the beauty of El Centro, Medellin and Colombia in general. Plenty of choice for everyone!

To be clear, Uber is a personal vehicle so I would not know. The Uber driver of course is a stranger to me- that is what I meant. I would prefer not to flag my location to someone driving their personal vehicle.

Some girls claim to have friends that drive them but not likely in a taxi because that would require the driver of a yellow taxi to be on duty and available when she needed the ride to or from. That's not likely.

But if I am not the one that calls for the Uber I have to take her word for it and I have no record.

Personally, I've never had a problem with either. For a few months I used Uber a lot, then I began using taxis more.

How do you operate Centro! I have done every single method also! Except Centro! I have a skewed vision of it after watching YouTube videos. Maybe it's me but it seems like the most uncomfortable way of mongering. I imagine walking down some 3rd world looking street. Passing by shady guys and looking like a sore thumb. Then walking up to a group of thirsty unattractive women. Looking at them then walking as they make cat calls at me as I continue down ghetto streets on foot looking for a diamond in the ruff. LOL.

My thought process to avoid this scenario was find some sort of transportation (in a car seems safer). Maybe asking the cab driver to circle around until I found my diamond. Putting down the window. She walks over. Negotiates. Hope's in then off we go to either my alt or a love motel of my choosing.

Mind you, I monger alone so what is the real way of doing this safely and with a bit of dignity LOL. The whole walking the streets just doesn't seem realistic for a foreigner. What's your methods? In detail please.

I monger alone, although I've gone with others to walk around El Centro. Most of my time in El Centro has been solo. I'm also 6'4" and mid 50's in age. It's pretty obvious I'm not a local. Here's how I do it.

First thing, I take the Metro. Why pay an extra 12 k for a ride that will take 30 minutes longer? I prefer to get off at the San Antonio station. Parque Berrio station is closer, but I enjoy the walk from San Antonio. From the station I walk 1/2 block west and turn right and walk north. There's all kinds of clothing shops and a few restaurants. It's only about 3 blocks to the south end of Botero Plaza. You'll see the old, white Veracruz church on your left. Up to this point, other than a few guys trying to sell you blue jeans, nobody is going to bother you.

At the church turn left down the alley. Now you'll start seeing working girls, along with a few that don't appear to be anatomically correct girls. There aren't many gems to be found on this block, but occasionally one will stand out. At the corner turn right. There will be working girls on both sides of the street. Usually there are more on the left (west) side. You'll see all types here. Usually they'll just watch you go by. Occasionally one will try to get her hands on you. It's important to not let this happen. I usually will grab their wrist and say no. I've never had one continue after that. Rarely will any of the girls say anything, although a few will click their tongues to get your attention.

At this point you can either cross the street and come back the other side, or you can walk a block north then a block west to get to the Raudal area. It's only half a block long.

My advice is to keep moving. Don't stop to gawk. Only stop when you find one that interests you. Chances are, nobody will bother you.

Of course that's only one option. There's also the strip clubs. For those, it's best to take a taxi at night. Find a spot to sit down and get a beer or a bottle of water. If you see one you like, wave her over.

Probably the best option for you is a visit to the casas. Most guys will take a taxi to New Life, although I walk. The names of the casas won't help you much. The taxi drivers know where they are, but don't know the names. Give the driver the address and tell him it's "la casa de chicas con la puerta azul. "

Go through the blue door, you'll come to a security gate with a buzzer. Once the gate is unlocked go up to the waiting room. The manager will tell you where to sit and the lineup will come out. Having a pen and paper is handy because there will be about 20 girls. Each girl will shake your hand and tell you her name. Remember the name of the one you prefer. After the lineup tell the manager your choice. He'll call her out and she'll take you to a room. Afterwards she'll take you to the cashier.

If you don't see one you like, Aiffe is 1 block north. It has a red door. If nothing there, Sexxy Amigas is about 2 blocks away with a brown door. There are a few more all within walking distance.

As long as you follow the advice that's been given plenty of times here about keeping yourself safe, you should be fine.

El Centro aka La Candelaria, aka downtown is not for everybody.

If you are not used to sketchy places and dodgy people sizing you up to maybe mug you stay in El Poblado or Laurales or the Mansion and cab to the nicer strip clubs and Casa's and Gustos etc.

Makes no sense at all. First you say the Uber driver is a stranger, then you say the Uber driver might be her friend. Wouldn't it be more likely that the taxi driver is a friend? When you press the button on Uber a random person picks up the trip and the trip and driver are documented in your Uber record. Anybody can call a friend that is a taxi driver and all you saw was a yellow car. The taxi driver can just as well call another friend to stake out your location or go get an unmarked car and do it himself.

There is a lot of paranoia going on in these Colombia threads. I am not saying not to play it safe but geez. You got one guy in the Bogota thread worrying about being kidnapped and another afraid to walk outside and get into a taxi on arrival at the airport. What is it about Colombia that sparks these thoughts and fears? In over 100 trips to Colombia in 15 years I have never had any of the worries that guys come on this board having; not even my first few times there.

To keep all the diamonds for yourself? Stoke fear in the hearts of New mongers. Everyone who preaches fear about Medellin and Centro, are fearful in America as well. Did anyone read my previous post? 17 trips to Centro last year, not one incident of harm. People see me in Centro so much they walk up to me & call me by my Colombian name. So if you want to miss the best sex at the cheapest prices avoid Centro. But if you want to know all about centro you must do what The Tall Man, Wolf, myself & others have done. Put boots on the ground and explore centro for yourself. The best time for girls in vera cruz is 11:45 am-1 pm and 3 pm-6 pm. Lunch time & after school. Or work. Trust me, Pollo negro is out!

Perfectly said, in the past almost 2 years now since frequenting the Vera and Raudal streets (and don't forget to check out the paseo at Botero plaza area) I have spent too much time than I care to admit and beside for siting in some of the bars and drinking / flirting and just having fun I have trolled these areas numerous times at day and night on my motorcycle, in my car and walking the streets, note 99% of the time with my trusted colombian buddy, we love the chase and damn must admit have found some real fun times.

I am almost all but done with the higher end clubs (ie Fase Dos and La Isla) and only will go with a group of guys who must check it out, same with the casas, same with majorista, same with FB chicas and Tinder and the cupid girls, etc. Etc. And now my wallet thanks me as I spend a fraction of what I use to and I could argue that I have more fun. With friends I still will hang with a buddy in a lower end club such as Barra Executiva or maricaibo or the playboy or the like and from time to time will take a girl out.

To each his own, what ever floats your boat guys. Just have fun.
