I've been shaken down worse in Medellin in broad daylight. I was asked repeatedly if the cellphone on me was really mine. In another incident they straight up asked for 5 mil pesos before letting me go.

One Sunday evening I took a taxi to Periodista where I had been to before many times. Usually lots of people smoke and drinking by everyone there. Got there and bought a large beer. There were very few people there that particular night. While enjoying my beer a policeman walked up to me and told me that it was a public park and that there are laws against drinking in a park. I thought he was going to shake me down because I've been there and have seen all that goes on. Not wanting any trouble I told him that I was sorry and didn't know it wasn't allowed. I then asked if I could pour it out in the flower box. He looked at me like I was nuts and said no mister, finish it please, just don't buy another one!

I've told that story at home a the to cops here too in order to co vey what was to me a positive experience ce a the what seemed to be the Colombian attitude. Maybe I was lucky. I'm 67 very tall and definitely a gel go standout but maybe my decent Spanish and calm attitude helped.

Honestly Vane's girls is just a label at this point. She is the closest thing to a pimp you will find. Yet she is like a virtual reality online pimp. These girls just let her network for them but they are not exclusive to her. 90% can be found on Facebbook, Photoprepagos, Milleroticos or in Gustos / Hacienda. She just offers a direct connection but at a premium. I just feel better saving 100 k and getting them myself. All she does is text them on WhatsApp and sends the girl the address. You pay a premium. Just a FYI for the good brothers here. I was recently at La Isla until about 3 am on a weekend night. And caught an Uber home to my apartment in Poblado. We were stopped by a police checkpoint and I was asked to step outside of the car. And was thoroughly searched and shaken down. It was a pretty serious scene and the cops were not playing around. I was worried that might try to plant something but they didn't. They were genuinely looking for drugs. I did not have anything on me and they asked what I was doing out so late. I simply said I was out at a club. And the cop then let me go. Had I had any type of drugs on me. I'm certain I would've been in serious trouble and locked up. Just a warning to be careful and do not do anything illegal whatsoever. This is even more imperative as a foreigner that you adhere to local customs / laws and be cautious when out late at night.

Since I posted this I might as well add a little info. The cost of the Metro is now 2550 K. From 5 PM to 6 PM it is sardine time. I rode it last night, and it was a battle to keep from being pushed, and pulled the whole trip. I imagine it is just as bad in the morning.

The Hotel Botero has been chica friendly for me if you rent a room for 2 unless they changed polices recently.
