If a partner has HPV, it does not necessarily mean they have had sex with someone else recently. The virus can lay dormant in the body for years without causing noticeable symptoms.

Hence one cannot say that it is because of the recent intercourse. Also HPV is mostly found in Women, Men can also be infected but it's very rare. Sometimes even doctors can't identify the warts caused by the HPV and the normal skin area which sometimes looks similar to warts is treated as infected by HPV. As there is no proper test to identify HPV infection in Men's.

There are also vaccines available for HPV can be given before 45 but it is only helpful if someone is not already infected by HPV.

Best way to stop getting HPV (there are more than 150 types of HPV) is to NOT have sex! You can get it even if your partner has no signs or symptoms. Condoms are very effective in stopping HIV transmission but not so effective against HPV. But they are the best solution we have currently.

There is a HPV vaccine which you can try but last time I checked you had to be under 26 for the vaccine to be effective. Please check with your doctor.
