Might interest you know that mainland Chinese are not well considered too, due to extremely bad manners in Thai View, and lack of respect. Viets also have a bad reputation. Australians had a bad reputation for sneaking out of Hotels without paying in the old days. English have a bad reputation for being loud and foul mouthed (bad swear words). Some hooker girls don't like white westerners and prefer East Asian customers (easier customers).

I have had good friends that were Indians, but I can still be irritated by groups of Indians in a similar way to the Thais, although skin colour is not a factor for me in the slightest. I just don't like sitting near roudy groups or near strong underarm body odours, regardless of country of origin. I don't regard it as prejudice. Many of us just don't want to sit and tolerate something that irritates our senses in some way. I could easily have same problem with those from my own country.

Many things that we do are disgusting to Thais. Therefore it is wise to become aware of Thai culture and values and try to behave in a way that is moderately compatible.

Agreed. I can't tolerate too group of people who are rude or "rowdy". For me I see so many Chinese, like you said, who are extremely rude. Most of them are very young maybe in their 20's, and they are also mostly in groups of 3-4. Worst part, they pay no respect when they are walking around, how many time I have seen them drunk and coming in front of car accidentally.

They maybe easy customers for girls (333 rule haha), but usually very annoying punters to sit next to.

I am 33 dark skinned male from India doing a solo travel to Bangkok and Pattaya for 2 weeks. I did RTFF and realized we Indians earned a bad name there. Are there any specific gogo bars or places where Indians / dark skinned guys are not allowed? I wanted to avoid the embarrassment and spoil my mood.

There are prejudices about foreigners from many different countries, for a wide variety of reasons too, some cultural. So Indians are not singled out, however groups of Indians in particular are considered to come with certain problems: very low spending, noisy / roudy behaviour, challenging and not wanting to pay the bill, body odours especially underarm that Thais are not used to. White westerners can stink badly in Thai view as well.

All these prejudices arise from experience of people from certain countries, even if not all of us fit the reputation. Skin colour may be a factor but for sure it is not necessarily the dominant one, some Thais being quite dark skinned themselves.

You're right about the feeling about Indians-much of it justified. Almost all the night spots allow Indians in, but you may not get a nice welcome. However, if you're well-dressed, polite and reasonably good-looking, I think you should be able to do all right.

Back in the pre-smartphone days, taking photos / videos wasn't a big deal with many girls, especially in Pattaya. They were not keenly aware how such material could spread, and even if it could appear in some corner of the internet, nobody she knew was likely to ever come across it.

These days, it's different. Thais are generally image-conscious and working girls still try to keep plausible deniability about what they do to their parents and people back home. I doubt most would agree to making porn videos, though if you offer enough money I'm sure a few would.

You can ask in English, I guess, "video" is a word that made its way into Thai.

Once I saw myself in one of those videos walking with a girl I barfined in walking street. I don't see the point of these videos, but they do huge numbers on YouTube, so uploaders going to keep upload them.

I know YouTube has a policy, where they de-monetize the videos of sensitive topics. I don't know if they do with videos related to Res Light Districts.

In Pattaya (soi6, social media, massage shops) is not much hard to find girls who are fine with videos and pics, especially if you meet them more than once. They understand english.

In Pattaya you can go to Soi Full Love Inn and hit the 6 or 7 BJ bars there. Kinnaree Place would also be an option. No one is ever going to see you there unless they are in the bars themselves and certainly no one is videotaping there.

Thanks for the advice / insights about remaining confidential in this hobby. It seems like there are a few things I can do to reduce the risk, but Asia will always have some risk. Europe is much better in this regard.

Lots of people visit the red light areas as tourists just to see the spectacle, particularly in Amsterdam. A man walking around by himself looks quite different than a group of tourists. The girls also try to hold hands and walk together when leaving the bar, which is an obvious giveaway. Visiting the RLD is very different than taking a girl home in most people's eyes. Plus, one person could see me, tell another person, and then it just spreads quickly without the initial person who saw me having to be known to the larger group. Besides, even if they are there for the same reason I am, it's still embarrassing.

Just own it. Really. If you are in a job that mongering might hamper, do something about one or the other. Always a possiblilty of being seen.

There is no guarantee people around you can't find out. And don't forget about those YouTube channels who make videos on walking street ans soi cowboy where we can see and sometimes hear punters clearly. So, if you think, that parents of your students or your colleagues finding out about your hobby will change your life drastically, I would suggest you avoid visiting RLDs. BTW you can visit massage shops, but anyone can see you getting out of the shop. I hope you are getting my point.

P.S.: I also think you are overthinking it.
